If you get your scores up, you increase the chance of becoming academically qualified. You need to be academically, physically, and medically qualified with a nomination to be eligible to receive an offer of appointment.
If you don't get your scores up, you risk being academically disqualified. If you are DQ, you cannot go directly to West Point. Unless you are a recruited athlete, under represented minority, or a Soldier, your chance of being offered a spot at the prep school is minimal.
You must complete your candidate kit before the file completion deadline in February. If you fail to make satisfactory progression on completion, your RC will send you a notice and potentially close your file. Don't wait. You are best to complete before the end of September and update again after the new year with any recognitions/achievements/leadership updates.
