Candidate Number for Class of 2028

Yes, it is so hard to wait and at times can seem very confusing. There are many moving parts and multiple military and government departments involved and timelines and processes will often change. But it is important that the candidate initiates all contact with admissions, MOCs, BGOs, DODMERB, contracted doctors, etc. Parents will need to assist with information on the online DODMETS medical history and maybe past medical records of your candidate is under 18, but everything else should be them.
100% the applicant should be driving the train.

My son will be a c/o 2028 re-applicant and his c/o 2027 portal was ready mid-May last year. I remember being there for a CVW in April and everyone was asking about this. They said they had a tentative date of something like May 9 (I think -- it was a year ago now) but that it almost never opens on the tentative day because there's usually something that needs tweaked. Despite the urge to get going, there is very little value in racing to be the first one through the door. It will only extend the already agonizing process of waiting until next April. Trust me. I was you a year ago and I was positive that my exceptional child would get his offer as soon as they put eyes on his glowing application. Alas, he was one of the few to be WL in April and turned down last week. The wheel keeps spinning. If you start today or start in 2 weeks or start in July you still won't know anything for months and months and months.

As a re-applicant, a lot of your stuff will be populated already if I recall my kid's journey once you restart the application process. DoDMERB will also be a heck of a lot easier as long as nothing new is to be reported.

Don't worry, they'll assign numbers soon enough! That's just one of the early steps in the process. It's a long journey!!

Same here, applied PCQ, got confirmation email that it got received, and nothing yet so far. Regardless, there is no other choice other than being patient

For any re-applicants here, my new candidate number for 2028 has loaded into the portal that we used for the 2027 application.

Did you have to do anything to let them know you are re-applying? Or did it just show up?

Would any one know if you were already a reapplicant, and Dodmerb medical exam was good for 2 years and I received a medical waiver for both NROTC and this year st USNA ( waitlisted and turned down) what I would have to do if I decided to reapply a 3rd time ? Im still deciding but wanted to know my options

Question for the BGOs on here:

Does USNA factor in the science portion of the ACT? I've seen it called either way when I did a Google and SAF search. I'm a long-standing SAT veteran, but I decided to give the ACT a shot during my reapplication and was curious.

I was at the Academy on the 25th and attended an Admissions Brief. The Admissions Officer confirmed the IT issue people have been discussing, and told me candidate numbers and other stuff would be coming out "soon". At this point idk what that means, but thats what I heard from them.

Your DoDMERB is good for two years. If you are going into a 3rd cycle, my guess is you will have to re-do the physical stuff.

Ok so the "look" of the portal has changed - no more message about emails coming soon. DS still hasn't recieved an email and it trying to decide whether to email BGO or not. Has anyone recieved login info?

BGOs received an update that the form emails were ready and BGOs could send them to their assigned applicants. Not all BGOs may have sent them yet. Reminder all BGOs are volunteers and many have full time jobs.

The way I understood this BGO update and based off the template, it is a BGO welcome email (i.e. introducing the BGO to the candidate) and not login information for the Candidate Information System.

Bottom line, USNA will send an email to the candidate’s address once the application is ready and open. I know everyone is excited and anxious to get started, but please give admissions some breathing space…trust me they will let you know when it is open. There will be PLENTY of time to knock all the requirements out. Even if you somehow have credentials to log in, the USNA application has not been approved yet…thus, I would wait for explicit instructions to begin…would kind of be bad to have to redo a portion because it was wiped clean/not saved. Also, make sure to keep any eye on “junk/spam” folders in the coming days.

That's what I understood as well.

That is a month later than previous years. I wonder why?
