Candidate Portal Question

Hello Everyone,

I hadn't logged in to check my USMA candidate portal in quite some time as I never received a Congressional nomination. However, when I recently logged in to my candidate portal, I saw that the section regarding my nomination status had changed from "No nominations on file" to "VPRE2."

Does anyone know what this means, or if it is even at all significant? Thanks for the help!

That is probably a Vice Presidential nomination, but I don't know what the two means.

I would guess that's a Vice-Presidential nomination. Not sure what the "2" denotes. Maybe it's a way they keep track of the 5 slots the VP can have at the academy.

I take it you are a very competitive candidate if USMA provided you with a VP nomination.

Is there a date beside that VPRE2 nomination?

Yes, it says "Apr 14, 2014." I thought it might be a VP nomination, but was confused as I never received any notification from USMA or my FFR.

There just might be a BFE in the mail to you. April 14...that's way after most offers...and TWE's went out. Why else would they waste the time to slot you a VP nomination this late in the game? I see that you have an appointment to Navy so the qualifications that got you that appointment obviously made you very attractive to USMA.

Did you look under the nominations tab? Or the overview tab? On the left side of the overview screen, it would show "Offered Appointment" a few days to a week after they mailed the BFE.

Interesting. Let us know how it turns out. Why don't you call your RC? If you don't want the appointment (choosing Navy instead - the horror), I'm sure there's an eager lad on the USMA wait list.

Thanks for the help, Sledge. I have contacted my RC and am still awaiting a response. I've checked all of the tabs on the portal and there is nothing there as of now that shows "Offered Appointment." Guess I'll just have to wait and see what happens!

Decisions, decisions...

AC11 - this thread caught my eye because we really haven't seen much on here about the VP Nominations. Looking back through your posts, I see that you already have Appointments to USNA, USCGA and USAFA (and now it looks like USMA as well), and a NROTC Scholarship!

So if you don't mind my asking - what in the world does THAT decision process look like?
Unless you had a strong preference going in, it just seems like that would be a very tough process in a fairly short period of time! Congratulations, either way... :thumb:
