For EA applicants. As a matter of interest is this showing complete on your applicants' Bears Den account?

My DS checked his and it wasn't completed either. I wonder if it is only checked when the outcome is notified.

Not checked off for me either. I think you may be right @sanman.

For those of you who had an interview, is the interview report box checked off?

Interview boxes checked off a little over a week afterwards.

The evaluation review board is still blank for me months after submitting application and interviewing. I assume it will show complete when I receive a decision.

Alright thanks, I'll check in with my AP.

Our DD submitted her app on 10/14 and received the email that her application would be going before the Evaluation Board in the next two weeks on 10/29. I've looked for the check box but I'm not having any luck finding it.

Where is the Candidate Review Panel Evaluation check box everyone is referring to?

Thanks in advance.

Immediately below the one that states going to Eval Board.

It's in her Bear's Den account. Scroll down to the bottom right-hand side under the heading "Application Checklist". It's the last item!

If it helps, many experienced the same things last year. Last year there was a new Director of Admissions, who tried a few new things, no rolling just a mass EA January 15th yes/no letters came on the portal. This year there is a new Superintendent of the USCGA, so I would expect as this would be his first admissions cycle, there could be changes to the process also. I don't think the 2018 experiment with the mass January 15 EA notification met their expectations, so this year they went back to "rolling" and the December EA notification date.

All that is to say, hang in there, similar varying and conflicting communications occurred last year as well, in the end, notifications go out and the portal is the first place to look for them (or at least it was last year). People post they heard this or that from an admissions person/coach/visit/recruiting program, and I am certain they did, but things change and there are hiccups in they system.

As soon as they come out, someone will post on here, and keep checking your portal for status updates. Sometimes not all the boxes are checked and then they all get checked at the same time the decision is posted. Small staff with lots of applications to review.

Good luck!

My son did EA and checks every day...and no box checked as of yesterday. Waiting is the hardest part.

I've heard that a committee will be reviewing applications early next week. They have probably already evaluated many, but I'm just relaying what I heard.

Does the Cadet Candidate Evaluation Board (CCEB) send ALL candidate records to the Admissions Committee that is headed by the Director of Admissions regardless of CCEB recommendation?

Handbook states CCEB will make one of three recommendations: Appointment to Academy, Appointment to Prep School, or Not offered an Appointment.

If candidate record is going before Admissions Committee does it mean CCEB recommended Appointment to Academy or Prep School?

There are more outcomes than this. #4 is deferred to General Admissions Cycle for a second round of competition for appointment. EA receives roughly 600 applications, while GA receives roughly 1300. With ~230 slots to give in the cycle, USCGA seeks to fill those slots proportionately and give roughly 30% of slots to EA and and 70% in GA. (per admissions this week).

Two other variations exist - Conditional direct appointment, and Conditional prep appointment. Most students have not completed medical at this point and USCGA seems to be more judicious with the DODMERB process to only move forward with qualified applicants rather than paying to screen everyone.

This has not been the case in the past - it is approximately 50/50 between EA and RA. It makes sense that there would be a higher rate of appointments from EA, as those are traditionally the most qualified candidates.
