Candidate Visit Weekend Rescinded - Thoughts?

Our DD was invited and attended a CVW last year. She was then accepted to Summer Seminar but declined to attend Girls State. This year, she was offered another CVW. We were surprised since she had already attended one, but accepted. We received an email a couple of weeks before that there was a mistake and that she shouldn't have received another invitation since she previously attended a CVW. We tried not to read too much into it, although she was disheartened. Based upon your post, I assume that there was some type of audit to ensure there wasn't duplication. I guess we'll know soon if it was a negative indication!

CVW slots are limited. At this phase in the admissions cycle, priority shifts to seniors who did not attend NASS (or a prior CVW).

There's really no benefit in doing a second CVW -- for USNA or the candidate. I'm quite confident it was a mix-up.

Also, keep in mind that, unlike a couple of decades ago, being offered a CVW doesn't mean a lot other than the candidate is at least marginally qualified. It is no longer a "good sign," and I'm aware of many candidates who've participated in CVWs who received TWEs. And also many who were appointed. The CVW helps candidates learn more about USNA so they can make informed decisions. No more, no less.
