My DD did a CVW at usna this past month and found it extremely helpful. Does usafa offer any programs like this where candidate can shadow a cadet? Thanks.

No. You can get a tour of the campus if you call ahead and arrange it but they don't do CVW's anymore according to DS's ALO.

My daughter contacted her admissions adviser & got the number to the tours office. She was told that invitations will be sent out shortly to those that have been given appointments. I *think* she said that they are shadowing a doolie for a day. There will be 3 dates: one in March, April and May.

Anyway, the invites should be going out within the next couple of weeks.

I was able to shadow a cadet at USAFA in September. I knew the cadet and all he had to do was ask for permission several weeks prior (not sure from who though). I think it worked out in my case because I knew him. But he could only have 1 person shadowing him though and he said that he has seen a few students shadowing cadets around before. But you have to pay for your own travel expenses though. And I also didn't spend the night in the dorms with the cadets, I don't even know if I could have been able to anyways. I had an awesome time and thankfully all of the cadets I met were nice! So yes it's definitely possible!

I also shadowed a cadet last year, and did not previously know her. My mom set up the process through the Academy. There were at least 10 other people doing the same thing as me, which was shadowing the cadet all day, including going to classes, lunch period, etc. I also got her opinion on a girl's view of Academy life. It definitely helped reassured my choice of applying!
