Are they the same every year for application or different?

What are they for 2017?Thanks!

It looks like the nomination essay topic keeps the same every year " Why I want to attend a Service Academy?"

What I mean is what are the essay topics for the 2017 class application.

Hello 2014,

Perhaps I am misunderstanding your question but... the application window for class of 2017 is long closed now. So the essay topics are a moot point.

Perhaps you are asking about the class of 2018?

I believe OP is asking the 2017 applicants what their essay prompts were so they can prepare for the 2018 application.

If I remember correctly from 2015, the essay prompts were:

1) Why do you want to be an Air force officer?; and
2) Describe a situation in your life where you had to overcome adversity.

I don't remember the exact wording since why DS only asked me to proofread the final versions, but I think that was the gist of the prompts. Best wishes.

I wonder if they ever change those prompts? From my memory that is the same thing DS had in 07, but for some reason I thought there was an optional 3rd essay....than again, when you apply for all 3 MOCs and the AFA, things get blurry regarding who asked what.

That sounds about right for 2017 too... there might have been a third one but I might be thinking of something else.

You might think the nomination essays ask the same thing every year but this year my congress person threw us a curve ball and instead of the usual "why do you want to go to a SA," we had "what is the biggest issue facing the military today."

Ya i think the third one is talking about how the PT is difficult and how do you plan to keep up or something.

I think one of the 2017 prompts had to do with honesty or integrity but I just can't remember.

Thank you all for the answers.

DAD is sharp, yes, it helps the 2018 application. So it look like the topics are pretty much the same every year.

Yeah for the Class of 2017 our Essay prompts were:

1. When did you first become interested in the Air Force Academy and serving in the Air Force? What started your interest? What Air Force career field do you hope to enter? What do you expect to gain from the Air Force Academy experience and how will it help you in your Air Force career? (250 to 300 words, 3000 characters max)

2. Which aspect of the Air Force Academy experience (academic, military training, athletic, social/spiritual) do you anticipate will be most challenging for you? Discuss why and how you expect to succeed in that area. (250 to 300 words, 3000 characters max)

3. Describe a setback or ethical dilemma that you have faced. How did you resolve it? How did the outcome affect you? If something similar happens in the future, how would you react? (400 to 500 words, 3000 characters max).

You then had to answer either 1 or 2, and everyone 3.

Thanks, JWebb1379.

It looks like 2017 is a little bit different.
