I’m currently a high school senior and want to attend a maritime school for marine engineering. I’ve looked at all maritime academies including kings point. I have a 4.6 gpa and 1520 SAT. But the thing is I smoke weed and not sure if it is allowed. It does not interfere with my academic performance. Would I be allowed to use cannabis in kings point? Can I be able to use cannabis at the other maritime academies?

I wouldn't even ask that, if I were you..... OBVIOUSLY NOT

If this is not a prank post, I will give you a simple answer. No. Find another career where other people's lives don't depend on you.
Please be more open minded. There are plenty of alcohol and cigarette users in the industry. Cannabis is not nearly as bad and is natural plant with many purposes such as medicine, concrete, paper, food, ethanol, fibers used for clothing, AND ROPE USED ON SHIPS AND OLD MERCHANT MARINE VESSELS. There are also many other purposes for cannabis and I happen to use it for my treatment and it has done wonders. I will continue my plan to become a marine engineer.

No one on this forum is kidding with you... If you expect you be able to use drugs, while serving within our military, then the military is clearly not for you.

Alcohol and Cigarettes are at least not illegal....

If you're using cannabis products to treat a medical condition, I can almost guarantee you won't pass the DoDMERB medical exam for admittance into King's Point. Also, the Omnibus Transportation Employee Testing Act of 1991 requires mandatory drug testing for "mass transit" workers, including shipping. Also, smoking weed and making ropes out of hemp are such vastly different activities it blows my mind you even think they'd be comparable. I'm completely for federal legalization of recreational marijuana use, but you're looking at the wrong career my friend if that's something you hope to do in your free time. Anything military or transportation based isn't compatible with your lifestyle.

I'd also suggest you don't tell another member to be "open-minded" to a member of these forums who has been here for 10 years.... They know what they are saying.

Including even building the equipment for transport. The Train Manufacturing plant where I worked had random drug urinalysis as a condition of employment and cannabis use will result in termination NO MATTER THE LEGALIATY IN THE LOCAL AREA. This is also true throughout the aerospace industry where each contract from the government to manufacturers like Lockheed or Boeing invokes the "Drug Free Workplace Act"

The world is rife with examples of the gap between simply legal and legal in my profession. America and the larger world may be in the midst of a changing relationship with mary jane, but it's by no means complete and most professions still have many rules firmly rooted in the old ways. Maybe your kids might enjoy a different rule, but today it's a No.

Remember….it’s Columbus Day. There is not school today. Perhaps some free time to troll *I mean use* the forums 😈

You would certainly NOT get into the Academy or get a license if you test positive for cannabis. . . but, go ahead and puff away. . . .

Good luck. You will never get a license. . . . .
