    First Army officer to be awarded it in Iraq and Afghanistan right?

    First any Officer. All awards since Vietnam have been Enlisted

    Duh ... Don't know how I forgot about LT Murphy. Hands typing faster than my brain was thinking.

    Seem like there was some controversy as to why this this captain wasn't awarded the medal in the beginning until the battle situation was re looked at.

    Just curious, what are the career effects on those two TOC officers who got letters of reprimand?

    If they are still in, they are just killing time till retirement. No more promotions, no more anything competitive. I don't know about the Army, but I know a guy in the Navy who got a LOR and he had to go before a "show cause for retention board".

    I'm pleased this happened. I recently read Dakota Meyers book on the battle. He concludes the book with a plea on behalf of the Capt as being every bit as deserving as he was regarding the MOH.
