care packages- be honest with me!

Ok, I am entertaining the idea of sending something other than my usual boring care package from home and have been checking out some Annapolis local favorites that put together fun things for mids....like cakes, cookies, a pizza, etc...you get the picture. However, my Plebe does not like to draw any attention to himself. Is it frowned upon as a 4/C to receive such things as a cake from a local bakery, etc? Would this completely put my mid over the edge if his mother did something like this? Or should I stay with my homemade care packages?

We used Graul's market and some "Cake Lady". Always well received, especially when big enough for half the Company to get into the room!!

During plebe summer people might have made a fuss over it (I actually know somebody who received a cake and the detailers freaked out), but if you sent one now nobody would really care at all. The most that would happen is a bunch of other plebes trying to get a piece.

another option/idea

I just sent my 2/C an assorted box of chocolates from Harbor Sweets
http://www.harborsweets.com
....I've sent him one every semester since Plebe Summer, kind of a special treat that changes up the usual care package.....btw- they're nautically themed.....his room-mates practically fight for the "sweet sloops":thumb:
(when ordering be sure to use the Bancroft Express Office address)

another "special" treat for Midn

Annapolis's Cookie Factory- local Church group that bakes and delivers GREAT chocolate chips:thumb: to Midn a few times every semester...they've been doing it for almost 30 years....and it's very reasonably priced...next delivery is Feb 5... great "pick-me-up" treat for the Dark Ages Blues:biggrin:

Again, I've ordered these every semester since Plebe Summer and always enough to share with room-mates and other shipmates.

:director: GO NAVY !

Sent two cakes last week from a place out-of-state to my Plebe son. His only response was that he and his roomies loved them.

My mom just talked to those wonderful ladies at the Methodist Church in Annapolis that make the chocolate chip cookies for 3.50 a dozen and hand deliver them to the Academy. Thanks to all of you. I now feel much better about sending something a little more festive to DS now that Plebe summer is over!

Safeway

I hope its OK because I just scheduled at delivery from Safeway for Sunday. Free delivery on you first order. I did get enough treats for the company. : )
On another note DS is still waiting for any news for 2015 class.

What types of things did you know to order at Safeway? Did you call them? Just curious. That sounds promising.

Safeway

Just sign on order, pick a time and pay. I'll let you all know Sunday how it went.

I tend to send from home rather than order something. This yr, 3/C, I am filling requests for non sweets or limited sweets. He likes the microwave velveeta mac & cheese, beef jerky, tuna, nuts, trail mix, hot choc and cider mix...... He eats one cookie if I send them and shares the rest. Oh, banana bread is a favorite now. I put individual slices in sandwich bags.

I send from home so I can include a card and a few encouraging words. Probably makes me feel as good as him! Found a harious talking card for birthday at Wal-Mart.... It had a talking pop up mom saying things like "you are the smartest, handsomest young man ever and I am not just saying that because I am your mother.". He said it would get a lot of mileage around Bancroft.
