Cell phone coverage in Bancroft- problems

Best mouse disposal I ever saw was a guy who killed one in a trap, then made a little rack for him, complete with blue whore and everything, and hung it on his door. :yllol:

As for cell phones in Bancroft, I can't imagine they would work anywhere except right next to a window. Of course, if you face into Goat Court, you're pretty much screwed unless you're on Deck 4.

I figure wireless would be a moot point in Bancroft except for maybe in the Wardrooms.

One of the challenges is being adjacent on most sides to water, and people on boats being able get in close enough for wireless piracy. No doubt all of these issues are surmountable, but in the big picture, USNA is a shore command and not an operational staff, so the Supe has to go to bat for $$$ to accelerate or expand improvements, especially in a DOD/DON budget that's been on a war footing for 9 years or so. Just speculating...

Certainly it would be a password-protected network.

And, even if they got the password ... big deal! So what if some guy in a dinghy gets free internet service on the Severn. They have non-password protected WiFi hotspots all over the country - including Starbucks. What's the big deal?

This is not a very expensive item, I would not think. Further, the academy being the high-standing academic institution that it is - it's somewhat embarrassing for it to be more internet backwards than your local community college.

Apparently no one in the DOD is allowed to use usb or flash drives. As for the mice, it was a nuisance to hear them running around in the ceiling. On the flip side, if you caught more you could come up with more adventurous ways to do them in.
Cell phone service in Bancroft is a crap shoot. It is good for the plebes who don't want to talk to mom or girlfriend every night. Now they don't need to think of any excuse, they can just blame the groundbreaking construction technology used in that building.

And yet the Class of 2013 was issued 500GB external harddrives that connect via a USB connection.

I can think of a lot of cool things to save on a 500GB drive. Of course, most of it would be blocked by Websenseless.
