Does anyone know what the minimuim number of crunches should be? Crunches are the hardest for me, so I was wondering if someone could give me an idea of how many would be considered "acceptable". Thanks.

I don't know the minimum, but if you practice them 3-4 times a week, you will get MUCH better. You can do them in sets, ladders, or all at once. There are plenty of online suggestions on how to practice these. My son went from 45 to 80 in a couple of months. Good luck.

Keep practicing, want to trade crunches for the BB Throw ( the stumbing block in our house) keep retaking and good luck. I am sure it will just click in. Try to set a rthrym

Mindy, got that rag for his knees and are you practicing ten minutes a day?

Yes he is practicing and is now up to 47 feet 6 inches big improvement from his first CFA which was 37 feet

rest of the scores 2nd time:
pull ups 3
push ups 50
sit up 91
run 6:47
shuttle 9.6

He plans to keep on improving until time runs out or he gets an appointment whichever happens first.

MindyG, Have you talked to his USNA admissions counselor? Those scores look pretty good to me. My son has LOA with scores not quite as good...just letting you know, is the rest of his app. complete? Check with USNA on this I think

Not gonna lie....he has to keep practicing.

tell him to work on his pullups, shuttle runs, and pushups. whenever you see him tell him to get down and give you ___ (#) pushups and vary the pushups (close hand, open, wide, etc) if you guys do this, ill guarantee you he'll improve his upper body, plus he'll get a little used to being pushed around and being told to do pushups. my friend and i do that to each other all the time, its fun. It's an excuse to do pushups in the middle of the sidewalk.

another thing that i do, whenever im doing homework or just watching tv,i put a backpack with dumbells (sometimes with my calc and physics book (yeah they're that heavy! haha)) on my back and drop down and do pushups until i fall. trust me, once you start doing pushups without the backpack they become a lot easier.

Mindy, I agree with USAFA2013. I'm sure you have a pull-up bar...right? Have him do 20 pull-ups, somehow. 2x10 or 3x7ish or 4x5,etc. Just get to 20. After a while he will be able to increase the number quite easily. He'll get into the stats, also. Same thing with the push-ups. If you are still looking for the perfect knee towel for the basketball toss, my son has his dog's old bath towel which worked very well for him. He would be willing to sell it for $100..karma included. :)

will pass all on to my son. Thank you this board is great!!!
