I am a homeschooled student and I have already scheduled to take my CFA with an active-duty officer on Oct. 11th. I was planning on sending the scores to both USMA and USAFA. However, I recently discovered that while USMA states that an active-duty officer can administer the CFA, the AFA seems to state that only current service members can have an active-duty officer administer the test.

Which of these would be the better path to choose?
1) To submit the scores online to only West Point and then call West Point and ask them to send the scores to USAFA or
2) To submit the scores online to both academies

My only problem with #2 is that I might get nixed by USAFA for having an officer administer it. Any advice?

Unless something changed from last year, you're not REQUIRED to have an active duty member administer the CFA (at least for USAFA, not sure about the other SAs).

A high school coach or PE instructor can do it too.

I'd call your advisor at your earliest opportunity, mainly because she'll be able to give you the best advice since she has access to your file. The directions can be obscure sometimes.

Hi all!

Okay, the SHORT answer: NO!

There is no requirement for an active duty officer, NCO, etc., to administer the CFA for USAFA to anyone, including active duty airmen. They can actually take the CFA at the base "HAWC" (Health and Welfare Center: Gym) and the civilians that administer the AF "Fit to Fight" test can give it.

As for students (high school, college) there is no problem if one wants to do it with an active duty officer, reservist, or guardsmen. In fact, on the USAFA website there is the Pre-Candidate section where it describes precisely who may administer the test. Examples: coaches, ALO's (we're not active duty, we're either reservists, guardsmen, or retired), active duty, and others.

So...go take the CFA, IF YOU ARE READY...but not before!

And then nail it! :thumb:

My daughter had her HS PE teacher administer the CFA for USAFA. As long it is done in accordance with the pre-candidate instructions, it is no problem.

Good Luck

my son had his hs swim coach administer the test who is also a elementary school phys ed teacher.

just make sure you have run thru the test on your own strictly following the time guidelines. leisurely going thru the test is quite different than trying to do it in the required time. eat something 1.5 - 2.0 hours before so you have energy for that run! (something my son learned the hard way)

My son did his with a PE teacher, entered the data, and hit SEND rather than SAVE. So he had one chance only with no preliminary training or trials. OY!
