CFA Failure???

I just received an email from my RC informing me that my file would be closed due to my CFA failure. I found this extraordinarily surprising as my CFA has been on file since October, and all of my scores were passing. I passed at all of the other academies. I never received any notification of failure or any communication regarding an issue with my video uploads. Again, my CFA was on file since October and always had a green check next to it, as did the videos.
?????

With the number of accidental notifications/letters I've seen received this application season, I'd check back with your RC before you freak out. It seems highly unlikely that this would occur after months of seemingly being qualified.

What does your portal say?

Portal is the same as it has been since I completed my application. Only formal communication is my LOE, everything still has check marks.

Curious... had you received a 3Q letter/notification in the past?
No, I had never recieved a 3Q letter. However, I was never determined to be medically qualified, and as of right now I am still in the waiver process.

Do you mind sharing your scores? I’m curious as to what event they’re saying you failed, especially since you submitted so early and never heard anything about it... I know RCs can authorize a retest as well.. seems ridiculous that a seemingly competitive candidate’s portal would be closed so abruptly like that. Hopefully it was just a mistake 🤞!!!

perhaps it was subjective based on the videos of your pushups?

Since IIRC USMA is the only one that requires video of the events, perhaps they are more strict on form.

You are correct that USMA is more strict on form. My DS has to retake the video because they could not verify his form due to the T-shirt he was wearing.

I’m going to say with those scores, they subtracted the pull-ups and pushups that were not correct form - my guess is pull-ups - look back at your video and if your chin doesn’t clear the bar or you don’t come all the way down, they won’t count it and that would cause you to fail the test - but definitely ask to resubmit

Agree but I’d still contact Admissions.

I second this!! You did better than me in every event except the mile run and I passed, but I know you are far above the minimum for the mile. If you did “fail”, it has to be because of your form in the videos. I had to resubmit push ups once and had to resubmit pull ups twice! If you don’t start at and return to a dead hang on each rep, and your chin isn’t above the bar and parallel to the floor, it won’t count. Likewise with push ups, elbows must reach at least 90 degrees and you must fully extend your arms each time you go up. Safest next move is contacting your RC to get the inside scoop on what’s really up. Best of luck!
