My son passed the CFA at SLS however it is not posting on the on-line application. Do you have to submit any info so they can retrieve the score or will it post at some point? Any info would be helpful.

I have talked to my liason officer and he has told me that they record scores from SLS which are way above the national averages. HOWEVER, I have also talked to an admissions officer who has told me that, if you would like, you can use your scores from SLS. They do discourage this however, because the CFA taken at SLS was supposed to be a "practice" of sorts, and allowed cadet candidates time to build stamina in order to take the CFA again a few months later.

My son passed the CFA at SLS. He retook it over the summer for AF and did significantly better, so called WP and submitted those scores as well (late July). Neither show up on his on-line application at this point.

It would be wise to do the CFA again since your son will have time to get better at it and is not familiar with the events so should do better. If he does worse, simply don't submit the new scores.

CFA scores from multiple tests or institutions

SUBMIT ALL SCORES. We will take the best ones automatically and do not frown upon taking the event multiple times. The test taken at SLS is for record, not a practice. Those scores should have been posted within a few DAYS of SLS. If you have taken a CFA at another institution (i.e. navy SLS) and want them sent to us, just contact the admissions office where you TOOK the test, and ask them to send it to whoever you want. We do it all the time. We do not frown upon you applying to other academies, no need to keep it a secret that you're applying to USNA or ROTC or whatever.

Bottom line- if you took a CFA and we didn't get the scores, ask the administering official to re-send them. If WE were the administering official (i.e. you took the test during SLS) then email your regional commander and we'll find the sheet of paper and re-enter the scores.

This contradicts a bit with what I was told at USMA SLS. I have been under the impression that once you submit the CFA scores, you cannot resubmit new scores unless you are requested to retake them because of a poor result. Am I confusing this with another one of the service academies?

I was also told that the SLS CFA was a practice CFA, but you could use the scores if you were satisfied with them. I was told that, unlike taking the CFA outside of SLS, you could resubmit new scores later on.

When the application became available, my CFA scores from SLS did not automatically appear, but I did not worry about this because I planned on retaking it. However, based on what you have said, I am wondering: should I call admissions to verify that those CFA scores are included on my record since they did not appear to be there before? I retook the CFA a few weeks ago, and all of my scores are higher, with the exception of something like a tenth of a second on my shuttle run.

I agree with you. When my son called trying to get his improved scores included, WP very much questioned WHY he had taken it again. He explained he had been told at SLS that he could if he thought he could improve his scores, and since he had to take it for AF, he now wanted to submit these (much) improved scores. They kept insisting "But you passed. Why did you take it again?" I got the impression from him that they sounded like they were doing him a big favor to allow him to submit those scores (and as I said neither set shows up online now, but he's decided not to complete his WP application so I guess it doesn't matter!).

My son passed the CFA at SLS, he received a letter showing the results of his CFA. He has a green meatball in that section of the on-line application, which indicates that it is on file. I don't know if he submitted the results letter, or if that piece was done automatically. Your son may wish to contact the admissions team and advise them that he passed at SLS, or alternatively to send them copy of the letter showing that he passed.
