Can anyone let me know if KP looks at the CFA as a pass/fail test or does the admissions office evaluate the actual score?

Thank You

From our experience, they pay attention to each activity's score. My DS failed it the first time around and thankfully he had applied early enough that they gave him extra time to retake the CFA and submit new numbers. Fortunately he could see the opportunity slipping away if he didn't get serious, so he picked up the slack and was accepted with his retake of his CFA.

To clarify what I said. Don't pick a day that is sub degree weather to do your CFA. DS and the Physical Education teacher picked the day before Christmas break when there was lots of snow on the ground to do his CFA. Needless to say, pick a day when the weather is perfect. Also make sure the person you have monitor it has all the information in advance, things will go much better.

If they are like their sister SA's regarding failing the CFA, if you max out on everything, but one and bust that one aspect, you still fail the CFA. You must meet the min. standard for each and every category. From there they will award you points to your WCS based on how you did on the CFA.

I agree with KP, pick the right day. This is an aspect you have complete control over. Picking an extreme weather day can hurt you. Same with how you feel physically. Don't take it if you just got over a stomach flu or a twisted ankle. Be at your best physical ability you can be for the test.

CFA for USMMA

We send in 50+ CFA scores to the USMMA every year. All in the past have been "pass-fail". This year maybe different due to the high number of candidate applications.

+1 on the above comments.

One piece of advice - don't ask what the mimimum passing scores are; they won't tell! Always shoot for the max and do your best.

Thanks for all of your responses. As to the last one, are you already seeing higher number of applications for this year? Has anyone heard how many students they will accept for the Class of 2017?

Don't Wait Too Long

DS received a conditional acceptance (he presumably had met all other requirements) pending "acceptable" CFA results by a certain date (30 days from the date of the letter). Wanting to make sure he did as well as possible on the test, he started training - in retrospect, later than he should have. He scheduled the CFA with his HS athletic dept. one week before the deadline given by the KP letter. On the weekend before he was to take the CFA he got a letter from KP (which he then saw was reflected by his admission status on line) that his application had been terminated, or words to that effect, due to incomplete paperwork. That was a LONG weekend!!
Monday morning he's on the phone to KP admissions pleading his case and explaining the date on the conditional acceptance letter. He was given something like 24 hours to get the results into KP admissions or else. He took the test the next day and handed the results to KP admissions that day. His application was reopened and he go in.
The moral of the story, get your paperwork in BEFORE any deadlines and check with KP admissions periodically to make sure you and they are "on the same page" as far as your application status.
