Hello Everyone,
This is my first post on here and I wish I had asked more questions on here sooner, tons of awesome and insightful information!

Anyway, I have an LOA and my RC told me to resubmit my push up video due to not locking my elbows on the way up. I just did the video today with my Dad, the RC said I do not need a CFA admin there or to retake the entire CFA, so I am assuming that it is fine (it is also a video so I do not think there can really be any bias). During the video my Dad did not call time after 2 minutes, and I only got about 4 more after the two minute mark. Should I just redo it and have him call time after 2 minutes, or should I crop the video down to where the 2 minutes would have been called and submit that? I was not in the middle of a rep when the 2 minutes expired. My RC told me to not submit it any later than Nov 9, but I still want to submit prior than Oct 15.

I would do it again, just to avoid any unintended consequences with admissions and to make sure that all your bases are covered. If you don't have time to do so in the next three days, then go ahead and edit the video, but I'm sure that you can devote at most 5 minutes to redoing the video with your Dad. Just make sure your Dad knows to call time at 2 mins this next time! :)

Congrats on the LOA!!

So even if someone does have an LOA and they mess up on a resubmission will they be disqualified?

Just a quick follow up question, can my dad give time checks (saying 30 seconds left) during the push ups test? It doesn’t say anything about it in the cfa guidelines booklet on the candidate portal.

I would think so, I submitted my video and my timer person told me when 30s, 1 min, 1 1/2 min had elasped and admissions hasn't complained.

I know you can't get help with pacing in the mile, but I am not sure about the pushups. I'd probably avoid it just to be safe. As for the tape, probably best to redo. Though I don't think it would be an issue if you send an email to your RC letting him know what happened and that your total was x minus the few over the 2 minute count. I had to redo mine for the same exact reason. I did more, not surprisingly, as I didn't have previous stacked events. I actually got the impression my RC just counted my initial number, and simply wanted to make sure I was able to get the form right for 2 minutes.

Anyway, congrats on the LOA! Because there is a crowd of us out there who can't help but ask, I'll go ahead and make the ask -- please share your stats with us if you feel comfortable.

I have a 31 on the ACT (31 all categories), a 4.0 unweighted with almost every AP class my school offered except chem, varsity football and baseball all four Years, 2 years team captain, I’ve done competitive motor cross over the summer for the past 6 years. I have everything ready to go except my CFA, hence the push ups video. My Dad was also KIA back in 2005.

Thank you for your fathers service. I’m curious though, and I mean this with all due respect, if one has a parent who was killed in action and they are found qualified, are they given a guaranteed appointment? Once again I’m grateful for the men like your father who gave all for us to live the lives we live with the freedoms so many take for granted.

@WestPointHopeful2025 I commend your resolve to follow your father’s footsteps into a dangerous career field. I am incredibly sorry for your loss. I wish you nothing but the best.

There is a special nomination category for children of deceased and 100% disabled service members. There are 65 slots (total) at each of the SA‘s for this category (USCGA and USMMA do not recognize this category). These candidates compete in the pool with other candidates in the same category. Years ago it was not an often used nomination. Unfortunately, this nomination is not a guarantee because there are more and more that fit in this category.

I don’t know where the word “Che” came from in my last post...

No, likely not. My daughter was asked to resubmit the pushups and pullups several times, because of the recording angle. Once we figured out what they were looking for, it was accepted right away. They are very particular! The RC will let you know if and when it is all good. You just need to get it done quickly when asked.

Do you mind sharing what angle was accepted? It obviously sounds important
