If the CFA did 'not meet the standard' for USMA, is it possible it still can meet the standard for USNA?

Maybe. It depends and no one here knows for sure. I’ve yet to see a credible source here who knows the difference between the SAs’ CFA standards.

It could. The test is the same but how each SA evaluates the results can vary. For example, USNA has historically not been particularly concerned with the Bball throw. However, I've anecdotally heard that USMA and / or USAFA do look carefully at this event. Historically, USNA has been especially focused on crunches, push-ups and the mile run.

The above said, since this is Feb. 1, there's nothing you can do other than wait to see what USNA says about your scores.

For the 2027 candidates . . . you've seen a LOT of posts lately about the CFA. This is why you want to take it in June or July. If you start now and can't get into decent shape by the summer such that you can at least pass the CFA . . . you're probably not going to do well at any SA. Waiting until late January to take the test for the first time creates all sorts of potential issues (weather, injury, not able to find someone to administer the test, etc.).

So get in shape now, take the CFA early in the application cycle and BE DONE WITH IT!! (This doesn't mean you shouldn't continue to work out, of course, just that you'll have this element of your application complete for the "big 3" SAs).

DD has a friend who just completed her USNA app yesterday. Even though her CFA score in fah was very low, it got cleared but USMA failed it. So for sure each SA had a different measure of what is important to them and overall strength of the application.

Yup, that’s what happened to me. I passed USNA with 37 push-ups and 3 pull ups but did not meet USMA’s requirement.

Last year DS "passed" all the events of the CFA but USMA wanted him to re-take it to do better. USAFA also suggested he re-take it. USNA was silent. He retook it and all three accepted the re-take. Then USMA wanted him to redo the pushups as he did not go low enough. However before he got done he only had nominations to USNA and USAFA so he did not re-do the pushups.

Same thing happened to me where I got qualified for USNA but not USAFA and I had pretty similar scores to you! Out of curiousity, were these scores for male or female?

I have also observed with the experiences of a buddy of mine that USNA’s minimums are lower than USMA’s minimums, not just for combined point total, but for some individual events as well. I know for a fact that minimum sit-ups and mile is lower. You can find the USMA minimums (acquired from Field Force Representatives) circulating around the forum.

Thats awesome, congrats! The fact that you got a LOA really eases my nerves because the CFA is definitely the weak part of my app! Thank you for the info!
Don't worry about it. I did not have an LOA, had a weak CFA, and still got appointed to USMA early. CFA comes down to very little influence on your app aside from pass/fail.
