Hello,

I was authorized to retake the CFA for USMA, and in the notification letter, it said "You should prepare diligently, retake the entire CFA, capture video of your pull-up and pushup events, and have your results along with the video clips submitted by December 04, 2022.". I set up another CFA to meet this December 4th deadline, but my proctor has let me know they are no longer available, and that we have to move back the date. Will the CFA still be accepted? Is December 4th a hard deadline?

On a slightly different note: I submitted the same CFA to USMA and USNA. USNA said I was qualified and West Point said I needed a retake. Is this common? Are the standards that different? USNA also allows seemingly unlimited CFA retakes. Is there a limit for West Point?

Thanks

Do not worry about the comparison of different service academy approaches to reviewing the CFA. Let that go. You do not control it.
You control your rescheduled CFA. Reach out immediately to your Regional Admissions officer and let him or her know the NEW DATE on which you and your proctor will be completing and submitting the CFA. Do that today.

If you were my child, I would advise you to change your proctor instead of trying to change your date.

The SAs all have their own standards of what is qualified or disqualified. It could be yours just happened to fall in that mix. It could also be that the when the USMA watched your video, they rescored your pull-ups or push-ups and that would have dq'd you from USNA had they used the new numbers too. Again, if you were my child, I would advise you to review your submitted videos critically and see how many push-ups or pull-ups could have been tossed for form errors. I have no inside knowledge but given the discrepancy between the published averages of the USAFA and USMA, it appears that the USMA is pretty strict on their form review.

I haven't heard anywhere about limits on retakes but focus on putting up your best work, so you don't have to worry about it either.

Conversely, can your proctor do it this week or over the weekend?

I'd suggest it is a hard deadline until you get confirmation that it is not from your RC or other admissions representative. The fact is that you've been given an instruction with a specific deadline. We don't know why or what motivated that particular date - December 4 - and neither do you. Either get it done per the instruction or get permission to deviate from the instruction. Typically, WP does not permit more than one retake of the CFA - so it is important to put in your very best effort on the upcoming assessment. Good luck!

The deadline to resubmit was give to you by admissions. Your proctors availability to administer the CFA is of no concern to them. If you are not going to meet the deadline to submit the CFA because of the external factor (proctor), you need to contact your admissions rep immediately and find out if they will extend your deadline. I would advise that you have an alternative date in mind to provide them with the clear explanation of why.

My FFR said they usually won't let you retake it more than twice (3 attempts). Even having a 3rd attempt is only if they really want you to make it. A 4th attempt can be given if they REALLY think you could qualify otherwise (academically, characterally).
