Just my .02... if you're not at or very close to the averages, continue until you are. Have a parent or a friend time you on the CFA as often as you can. USNA allows you to resubmit better scores, take advantage of that! Unless you are well above the average scores nobody here can tell you if it's good enough or not, because nobody knows all of the applicants you're competing with and what their scores are, this year. Plus the CFA will weigh differently for each candidate depending on what the CFA means to their WPS. I certainly would not recommend sending in 6 or 7 different scores, or sending them in weekly
. But if you do significantly better then get those scores in...a final thought. The 'Dant said that this year's Plebes did significantly better on the physical portions of Plebe summer. This would tell me that they chose people with good to great CFA scores. So, although the averages are posted I wouldn't limit myself at the average unless it is absolutely the best you can do.
I do know that you will do an awful lot of running during Plebe summer. Depending upon your company you may wind up running a LOT more than you walk. You don't want to be the person that holds up everybody else because you're slower than everybody else...don't be that guy (or girl).
Here's a tip, don't just run on the flat, run up and down bleachers, or up and down hills. Try to get to 5 miles at a 6:30 per mile pace. You may not get there but trying will help a lot. AND WORK UP GRADUALLY! You don't want to get shin splints and have to take a break in your routine.
Plebe summer is physically demanding and mentally exhausting. If you are in great shape when you arrive your life will be far less stressful. DS was in great shape when he arrived. 6'0", 196 lbs. of muscle and bone. Within 2 1/2 weeks of Plebe summer he dropped down to 185 lbs.The physical part wasn't as tough for him as most others but his loss of 11 lbs in such a short time gives you some idea of the physical demands.
