If I scored below average on 2 parts of the CFA but then scored above average on another 2 parts would that average out to a passing score?

My DS got a letter yesterday asking him to redo his CFA since his scores weren't where they wanted. So, I assume that they'll reach out if there's a problem.

You have to pass all parts. If the below average scores are passing, sure. If not, no.

Theoretically, yes. Practically, nobody can answer this unless a lot more information was made available. For example, how far above average, how far below average, other event scores would all matter. I’m assuming from the post that you may have maxed 2 events. If that were true and the places you are below average are not wildly below average, then there is a decent chance of a passing score. If, on the other hand, even one score is far below average, it might cause a failed CFA.

Each event is pass/fail. Remember that averages are not minimum requirements, but that you should strive to be above average.

My deadline is the 31. I submitted the CFA a week ago, it's still under review. If I don't pass will they let me retake after that date? I do have a nom, and I'm medically and academically qualified. Also, does anybody know the mile time needed to pass?

I know about 6:40 is the average

The deadline is the deadline. Have heard or read of no evidence that one would be allowed to take again after 1/31. In the SA’s eyes, you had your chance to do your best — before 1/31.

Can confirm. That's why they call it a deadline. ;)
My kids' field force types always reinforced getting the CFA done early in the admissions cycle, like in summer or early fall of senior year. No sense wasting time on everything else if you cannot pass it after 2 or 3 attempts. Not something anyone should wait until the last minute on.

In the past, a 7:58 mile time was passing time, however I do not know what the maximum time would be to be considered a passing score.
