CFA

CFA minimums

This information is dated (2006) and may not reflect current requirements but this is what they sent us.

for females:

basketball throw...30 ft

flex arm hang .....20c sec

not sure exactly I passed with the following

Shuttle run 8.0
sit ups-63
push ups 23
arm hang-2 sec
bball throw-49 feet
mile run-7 min 48 sec

my daughter passed hers also
(going off of memory)

flexed arm hang: 4 seconds
1 mile run 7.30
Situps around 55
Pushups around 20
40 yard shuttle run 9 seconds

I dont remember the bball throws, but I think around 30-35 feet

CFA Lower Limits

Based on very limited data (five folks) the bottom 17% of those taking the CFA, score the following:

Bball throw <34 feet
Pullups <1
Flex arm hang <2 sec
Shuttle run >10.7 sec
Sit-ups <59
Pushups <18
Mile >8:20

This is based on self-reported scores of only five folks. What I did was found the averages and standard deviation of the data and then figured that the bottom 17% is more than one standard deviation from the mean.

Surprisingly, the averages for USMA and USAFA match this data very well except in the mile run, where no one on this forum has reported a time in excess of 8 minutes, and the averages for USMA and USAFA are 8:06 and 8:00 respectively. Good luck and do your best.

When our D failed the shuttle run, the admissions office sent us the list of the minimums. They also let her retake just the part she'd failed. Suffice it to say that Kaullman's numbers are a good goal. KP requirements do come in lower than his estimates for all but Pullups and flex arm hang. The reason I won't post the actual minimums is because you need to be fitter than that to succeed at KP. Besides, if KP doesn't make them public, it's not my place to do so.

If you can only meet the numbers Kaullman posted and just pass the CFA, you still will not pass the Physical Readiness test given at Indoc and every trimester every year. Requirements for women for the PRT are 1.5 mile run in 13:30 or less, pushups - 24, situps - 62. And expect to be doing pullups during Indoc and plebe year.

So do your best to prep and don't panic if one of your numbers is lower than posted here. Remember, if you are a good candidate otherwise, they'll let you retake the part that is a problem.

Better than the Minimum

If you can only meet the numbers Kaullman posted and just pass the CFA, you still will not pass the Physical Readiness test given at Indoc and every trimester every year. Requirements for women for the PRT are 1.5 mile run in 13:30 or less, pushups - 24, situps - 62. And expect to be doing pullups during Indoc and plebe year.

Excellent advice! There are many workout plans to get ready for Indoc/Plebe Summer/Beast/BCT. Pick one and keep at it!

Thank you for the info. All scores were well above what was noted.

I did not pass the FFA the first time round due to the bball throw I was then informed by admissions that to pass on need to throw at least what I remember as 39

todman10 - Just guessing from your name, but are you a guy? If so, this thread about minimums for women would not apply to you at all.

My D passed last year with a Bball throw of 30 feet. So, to clarify, WOMEN do not need to make 39 feet.
