I recently took the CFA and are wondering if anyone knows if these scores are competitive enough? (Male)

BB throw 78
Pull ups 13
Shuttle run 8.51
Sit ups 71
Push ups 51
Mile 8 min 38 seconds

I know I am slacking in the mile and am trying to get it up. I am retaking in a day hopefully I can improve. Also does anyone know a mile time I should shoot for?

I would say getting your mile time under 8 minutes and getting your pull ups to at least 15. Your push ups are also lacking a little bit.

The average score for the SA's (for men) is around 6:30 -- almost all publish that information for you to reference. I would use that time as a good aim. Good luck!

Here are the AFA averages published not long ago . . .

EXERCISEAVG FOR MEN
Basketball Throw68'
Pull-Ups13
Shuttle Run8.7 sec
Modified Sit-Ups (crunches)81
Push-Ups61
One Mile Run6:31

Since three of your results are better than average, they are in good shape. I think your mile time may be close to failing, but that is determined by USMMA -- everyone else (including me) are just providing an opinion. :)

Sorry, I think I spoke too soon with saying you will almost for sure pass. It won’t even let me put in an 8:30 mile. I would retake the test.IMG_3826.jpeg

If they fail and then pass the retake, how does that effect their application?

I believe it doesn’t. If a candidate is offered a retake and passed it does not look worse or better than someone who passed the first one.
