Good afternoon, my DS is in the recruiting process for an athletic team at the CGA and was told to apply for EA. His application is complete but still shows ready for review in his Bear’s Den account. Any other experiences with sport recruiting related to EA or a timeline?

Yes you just have to wait. My son got notified on the 23rd of December last year of his outcome.

The timeline is the same for all early decision applicants, recruited athletes or not. Based on the appointment thread from 2024, the first EA appointments posted were around December 10th, and all are notified either way by the 24th (my cadet (not a recruited athlete) received a phone call on December 21st with an offer of appointment). FYI: class of 2024 stats given out on Day 1 include 51% recruited athletes.

Thank you. Just curious as he hasn’t been advised to take a medical exam or scheduled for an interview yet.
You might have him reach out to his admissions counselor about Dodmerb referral if it’s not showing up in his bears den. Dodmerb thread also has a ton of information about this - there’s a fast sticky at the top of the thread with many details on the process.

Has he checked his Spam folder to see if his invite is there. I know this happened every year.

Thank you all. He has reached out to his AO and the application is still marked for review. Nothing in the spam/junk folder. We will see what the AO says.

DS spoke with coach. None of that sports potential recruits requested to submit EA has been moved pass the “Ready for Review” stage in the process. Is this normal as I see some getting appointments already?

Congratulations to all of the Class of 2025 appointments. Very happy for you and your families!

I am a recruited athlete submitted my application early October. I have not yet moved pass “Ready for Review” stage. I have had many conversations with coach and AO and they have both said I am where I need to be.

Good to know. Thanks for the reply. Best of luck.

Good luck. My son is being recruited for football and he got his notice of appointment on Nov 13. Coach Grant was fearless in this process. We got everything in as soon as we could. I think Oct 12 was when we submitted

Do you know about when Coach Grant submitted the athletic endorsement? Mine was submitted three days ago, hoping for notice today before everybody goes home for the holiday haha

Hey. I hope this helps. I had to get my son to forward me the email. Coach Grant sent him an email on Oct 30 that he was submitting the application with his endorsement that day. Nov 13 he got his appointment letter.

Congratulations to your son and family. Has he accepted and will attend?
Also did he have the opportunity to visit?

He is still undecided but is VERY close to choosing. We have not visited in person but I found out that being from Texas if we take a covid test and it is negative within a 72 hour period of travel we can go to Conn. I told him to confirm with Coach Grant because I want to see that beautiful campus. We took a hard L last night. We played the #2 team in the nation, North Shore Mustangs and got walloped 47-21. They have scored an average of 58 points on opponents. He accounted for 2 scores on the ground and air. Our playoffs start Dec 11 and we are projected to be hosting our first round.

Glad it did. We had both. He and Coach Grant talk often. The letter was waiting for him the day after coach called him which was on Sunday. It was mailed out on the 13th (Friday) and we checked mail that Monday evening

Best of luck with the decision and the rest of the season.

Before you make plans to travel to USCGA you need to make sure you can get on the grounds. It is very strict right now and only people with military ID cards can gain access. Call admissions first to see what they say.
