Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base, Ala., hosted the first Props and Wings Challenge on Tuesday, a test of ROTC cadets’ mental and physical abilities that will become an annual event.

The challenge followed 27 days of intense field training and classroom instruction for the 330 rising college juniors in attendance. The event drew cadets from universities across the country and will be a future test for cadets who wish to receive a commission, organizers said, similar to the watershed challenges held in basic military training....

The challenge tested more than 330 cadets with mental and physical activities during the 27-day field training event.
