Chance me class of ‘32 (rising junior)

Hi I live in New York and just wanted to see where I’m at as I currently feel like I’m not doing enough.

Grades:
Freshman year
94 weighted
91.84 unweighted
Took 1 honors class as it was the max

Sophomore year:
Haven’t got my report card yet but here are my worst grades…
4 B+ in English honors (no one in my class was getting above a 90%)
89-90% year round in APWH (ap score didn’t come out yet)
2 B’s in Bio
(First semester I had a 91.91% and a combined 83.66 on midterms)
1 B in Spanish 3

Rest of my classes:
APCSP 95-100% (2 on AP Exam…. I know it’s bad)
Geometry 91.87 whole (taking calc ab in senior year)
TL;DR ->> I had most likely had a 90-93 unweighted this sophomore year with a 93-96 weighted (I could be wrong about the weighted)

Junior year (next year)
Ap physics 1
Ap lang
Apush
SUNY spainsh
Algebra 2/trig (taking calc AB senior year and skipping pre calc if I do well in algebra 2)

Awards:
3x principal lists freshman year
3x High honor roll sophomore year
1st in my county for JV sectionals
All league in my section (section 1 New York)

ECS:
- Civil air patrol senior master Sargent (I’ve been doing this for about 2/3 years)
- Managing a local aviation Instagram account with over 300 followers
- TikTok account with over 13,000 followers, where I post aviation-related content.
- Staff member of a gaming organization focused on competitive online games with a Discord community of over 10,000 members, where I make military and aviation media content as well as technical and customer support.
- National Honor Society (my school has 3500 people)
- 74 hours volunteering (organizations such as Hope Soup Kitchen, Bridgewater in support of local firefighters, construction and cleaning work at the local Historical Museum, and youth wrestling volunteering.)

Clubs:
- Model UN & Model Congress
Sports:
- Varsity wrestling sophomore year
- Varsity track freshman year

Work:
- Summer job as a camp counselor (8 weeks)
- Worked as a apprentice in general contracting (2 years)


What I plan/hope on doing:
- Internship for congressman (somewhat hard)
- Page senate (hard)
- Studying for SAT
- More stem summer programs (I don’t know really, there’s no info I can find on this; any help would be nice)
- Volunteer more (famous museum in New York related to aviation and space)
- obtain PPL
- make aviation club
- Become staff at a encampment within CAP
- Join CAC
- boys state

Is this good? Be brutal with me please, I need ideas and need to get better.

Also I’m going to USAFA to get a pilot slot and serve my country and if not usafa I’m going to AFROTC to do it there.

Hey! Your now the second person to tell me, I have to wait until September to change it… I didn’t really know it was going to be such a problem; I’ve changed my pfp so no one can know anything about me other than my State from this post.

Way back in the 20th C., I attended this one. Really broadened my outlook. I did an independent STEM project and enjoyed the exposure to all kinds of things. I attended my rising junior summer.

But - for rising senior summer, I assume you are also looking at the service academy summer seminars, Boys’ State, etc. And, there is nothing wrong with working at a summer job. You learn a lot from that - teamwork, new skills, time management, communications, etc. - and your boss might even be a good source for an optional LOR attesting to your maturity, peer leadership, communications skills, work ethic, etc.

Would you recommend this over summer seminars? I’m still applying to the summer seminars but your probably correct on the time conflict of different activities.
 
Straight volunteer hours add zero to your application. They may help with your nomination. Leadership hours are what you need. It's the difference between "serving soup" and "leading the team serving soup".
 
Hello everybody Im 15 i'm looking to get into the class of '33 I have a 3.9 out of 4.0 GPA unweighted I play hockey for a top 50 team in the nation and also have been captain of my team and I have aced my leadership classes in school I'm also trying to get into the CAP I have volunteered doing a variety of things but I volunteer mostly helping youth sports camps and ocean conservation I would love to get a pilot spot and become an f15E pilot but i have also not taken my SAT/ACT and i'm going to start sophomore year any tips or advice would be great thank you.

Maverick, I've seen the comment before but it bears repeating. You could have the top resume in the world but if you can't express yourself in writing it will immediately be trashed.

While your academics look good, you need to change your writing habits. Treat everything you write from here on as if it's being graded in your English classes. That means *everything* from posts to texts to emails to formal letters. Fix your habits now while you're still in school and your application will look much better.

Mav, best advice I can give you is stay off this board and Reddit and focus on taking the most challenging classes you can take (preferably STEM classes), and do well in them, start studying now for the ACT/SAT and take them as many times as you can until you are well above the class avg, continue to play hockey at a high level, look for leadership oppos in your ECs. We'll see you in a couple of years!
