What are my chances of acceptance into a military academy? Here is a basic run down of me up until my current junior year.

3 time varsity football player
- Defensive Player of the year Award, District Player of the year award, many all star selections, will be team captain my senior year, hold a school record
2 years of Track
- 4th in 200 meter dash at districts
-indoor 200 meter dash record
Student Council member 2 years
Athletic Association member
Will be confirmed Catholic next year
SADD member
Boy Scouts member( will not achieve eagle scout)
GPA: 3.18
-my junior year gpa is a 4.0 since it became very important to me.
SAT: 1250 (confident that it will be 1350 by fall of next year. Am not sure if that is worth anything being that it'll be higher)
I have access to solid recommendations.

I was wondering if it is not too late to add more stuff to my overall record. I'm willing to do anything. I looked into boys state and am not sure if by doing that this summer, it will improve my chances. Same goes for SLE. I'm just confused on the process since my applications are to go out asap and I won't have the chance to have these on there quite yet till the summer. What are my chances and what can I do to improve them? I've heard about possibly going to ROTC for a year and then applying for West point. I know I can get my gpa in college up this way. Or maybe a prep school would work? I'm not sure of my options and am really looking for someone who can offer advice. One more thing I've heard of is going to basic training my junior summer. Would that improve my chances? Any help on any part of my post would be greatly appreciated.

JMPO. Improved grades, improved SAT (as high as possible... keep taking until you peak), more leadership roles. I see a lot of member of this, member of that, but aside from captain next year, no leadership. Keep working hard and go for it!

Are you hoping to be recruited for football? Have you been in touch w/ the coaching staff? What about track? Are you being recruited by them? What sets you apart from someone else? Your GPA is on the low side. Your SAT is average. Without something to set you apart, there are many similar applicants. Why should they select you? There's no way to finish eagle? That would add to leadership. Are you in a category that would add to minority recruiting goals? You asked, so I'm trying to be honest with what I've seen over the last 9 years that I"ve watched who gets in and who doesn't. Perhaps you are in a district with few applicants...if so, that will help. But otherwise, you need to find a way to stand out.

The thing I'm confused about is how my past recorder needs to be sent in around this time. How can I add anything if my record needs to be sent in now?

You should contact your RC with additions to your file. There may be things that he will accept directly and others will need to be verified. As an example, my DD was named team Captain of two sports after she completed her activities sheet. It took an email from the coaches to the RC to update her file. She later added College Deans List by sending the school press release. It just depends what you are trying to add.

Attend Boys State this summer, in a leadership position if possible. That is most impact you can make at this point, other than keeping grades and test scores as high as possible.

Your other post indicated you are a junior in h.s., so you would be applying to WP next year. You sound confused about the steps in the application process, so I would start here and thoroughly understand how to apply and what WP recommends for applicants. Honestly, none of us work in admissions and can't rate your chances of getting an appointment, that tends to be one of the most often asked question on here if you glance through older posts.

Attend Boys State. Last year, after finding out how much emphasis was place on Girls State, my DD was told that the two spots allocated to her high school had been filled. As a veteran and American Legion member, I approached the post commander and explained our dilemma. After explaining her desire to attend the USMA, a few calls were made and a slot secured. Your local Legion wants to help.

I would put a lot of effort into improving ACT/SAT. Also try to take AP Calculus and either AP Physics or Chem next year if you can. If you have the opportunity to join NHS do that. I would aslo see if there are any competitive clubs like math club or science olympiad that you could excel in.

Boys State. It's usually done between jr and sr year. It's a big add to your resume'

I don't really have any different recommendations to make than what has already been said but I didn't get in first try and my package was similar to yours maybe a little bit stronger but I did ROTC for a year got a ok GPA and I'll be attending WP next fall. So if you don't get in keep trying!
