Never heard of Mu Alpha Theta or GT program. Don't assume that Admissions knows what these programs are either. 5.00 GPA in what classes? Honors? AP? IB? Are you taking the most challenging classes your school has to offer? How does your SAT break down math versus verbal. Math score is more important. I don't see any evidence of leadership other than team captain. Can you go for another leadership position in a club or in your community? Can you create an opportunity for leadership in your volunteer work or your tutoring? You are obviously doing well so far, but remember your competition is tough, so keep pushing this summer and senior year. Start your application early so you can get CFA and DoDMERB done over the summer if possible. Good luck.

I've seen Mu Alpha Theta as a Math Honor Society and GT is Gifted and Talented Program.

How does one get a 5.0 GPA? Are there schools that offer all AP/IBA courses, even for things like health/PE?
Our high school only includes “major academic courses and selected electives” in the GPA. A student who takes all honors or AP classes at our school could end up with a 5.0 GPA.

thanks. That makes more sense. Our schools only credit honors courses 0.5 additional so it is impossible for students here to get a 5.0 even with taking out the non-core courses.

stats look good. depending on what state you're from you're probably in.

I would say your stats are better than my son's who did receive and appointment.

In my opinion, my son had two things that really helped him.

First, while he was never a star athlete, he had lots of extracurriculars because at our small rural school when you go out for a team you are nearly guaranteed to make it.

Second, our school has no AP or IB classes but it has some classes that he could take for dual high school and college credit. Also, junior and senior years, he had key high school classes in the morning and then left early and went to local community college for the afternoon. So he was able to graduate from both high school and community college (associates degree) within weeks of each other. Since he was weak in leadership, I told him to emphasize all the college experience and his abilty to get things done while pushing himself.
