Just wondering how I compare and what my chances of acceptance are for VMI and the Citadel.

GPA: 4.1 All honors and AP classes

Sports:
JV Baseball
JV Hockey
V Cross Country
Club Roller Hockey (captain)

Extra-Curriculars:
Officer in Student Government
School Clothing Drive Director
Campus Ministry
Gifted English Students Club
Eagle Scout (300+ service hours)
Community Emergency Response Team (50+ hours)

I plan on applying for Boys State this summer as well.

I am no expert but a lot will also depend on your SAT or ACT scores. Off the top of my head it would seem likely that you are a strong candidate. You might also wish to look at Texas A&M. TAMU and the Corps there has a special program for Eagle Scouts, see link below. Out of state students who are admitted to TAMU and the Corps there pay in-state tuition regardless of whether or not they are "contracted" or have ROTC scholarships. Good luck and best wishes as you begin the next part of your journey.

It sounds like a great program and something I would be interested in and I have looked into TAMU; however, right now I don't really have the budget to travel from New York to Texas. Thank you for the input!

Not sure about VMI but my daughter got accepted to The Citadel with a 3.1 and 24ACT Composite.

Honestly, as a Citadel cadet I can say that you look fine just watch out for SATs and keep up with PT.
Stay motivated.

If you can get at least an 1100 SAT you are a shoo in, 1250 puts you in good shape for a full academic scholarship. Hopefully you have applied for ROTC scholarships as well.

I wouldn't sweat it. You need to come up with a decent SAT score.

At El Cid I had a roommate with a 2.5GPA in college and a 950SAT score. I mean it might have been a slow admissions year and things have stepped up in recent years but I was accepted in 2001 with a 3.3GPA and a 1370SAT score. It seems like it only took them a few days to get back to me about it.

I also had pretty miserable PT scores. They fixed that pretty quick.

They'll probably stick you in 1st Battalion or Palmetto Battery unless you specifically request otherwise.

Good luck.

You can definitely be accepted into El Cid. I would not worry....
Easy Day.
People with much lower stats are accepted all the time (some of my friends).
