I completed my application mid-november and received a congressional nomination during the first week of December. I heard that most hear back February and March, but 2 people have already been accepted to UNSA from my school (one for athletics so they got a different nomination source) and another 3 or 4 at my school in the same boat as me. There are also 2 with appointments from USAFA, 1 to USMA, and 1 to CGA. I have been accepted to NC State nuclear engineering for my plan B, but still hoping for USNA.

A lot of appointments left to be had. One thing I have learned from this forum is patience. Good luck!

Yeah I’m still waiting as well. Even though my chances aren’t high, I still have faith that I might get in. No people from my school applied to USNA and if I don’t get in, I’ll go AFROTC at Virginia Tech or Crosstown UC Davis

Congrats on NC State nuke eng acceptance. That is terrific. Food for thought - if USNA doest pan out - I know a gal who recently went to NC State for biomedical engineering. She had no interest in Navy. Career fair comes around her Freshman year and she went and got information from a few employers. Sophomore comes around, again with career fair, and her friends are starting to freak out about what they are going to do with their lives when they graduate. This gal once again goes to the Navy booth and feels a sense of purpose. She ends up signing on for their post grad nuke program, gets her final 2 years of NC State paid for by the Navy, including salary. She completed officer training school and is on guided missile destroyer now. Loves it. And loves the $$ she saved from NC State as she used it to take a trip to Europe over the summer before she graduated. So, could be worse things in life. You’ve done well already. Congrats again.

Congrats on NCstate Nuke eng acceptance. One thing i have learned from this forum is Patience. DS has been training 10plus years in Martial arts, is 3rd DAN Black Belt and 2ND DAN Kumdo Belt with great leadership skills, I am also patiently waiting for USNA decision.

Someone said on the 2023 appointment thread that the Dean of Admissions told their CVW group that they are behind on appointments. There’s still hope for us.

This. Really. Stinks. All of my son's friends know where they are going... have heard back from their schools loooooong ago. He's worked so incredibly hard. He started his application in like January 2018. It's "pending review". Poor kid. He checks his status like 100 times a day. Sucks.

Feel your pain, shared by many an applicant. Worse is a TWE and embracing plan B, and/or facing re-starting the whole process over. And in the end:

I don't even know what a TWE is. I didn't know what the Naval Academy was till he mentioned last year... and had already started the application process! Before that it was GA Tech for like 3 years. Now he says he wants to be a servant leader and develop his character. Super proud of him for such an honorable motive- but this process is making me crazy.

I started my application back in January as well. Some of my friends wrote one essay the week before applications were due and heard back one month later.

Keep in mind that good things come to those who wait! Best of luck to your DS.

You can find The Acronym List over in Community Information.

TWE = Thin White Envelope or The Worst Email = the tough message of rejection for this cycle.

My son filled out his VMI application in a day and heard back within a week. Craziness. If he doesn't get in- Lordy- dunno what kind of applicant does.

I have been following the different message boards for some time now, which have been very helpful. I am a Navy dependent and understand the Navy way of life. I can appreciate the thorough process that’s involved when making important decisions, and in this case, handing out appointments to the best possible candidates. Fortunately, I have a Plan B and C, that include an appointment to the USCGA and Georgia Tech, my in-state school. Congratulations to those receiving appointments for the Class of 2023, and I wish the remaining CPRs the best, and hope to see you at Plebe Summer!
