Chances of Admission

Hi, I'm a high school Senior from Chicago and am wondering what my chances are to get into USMA.

I currently have a 3.7 UW GPA, 4.6 W GPA, 32 ACT and I attend a very selective public magnet school.

I am the President of Model UN, Junior Assistant Scoutmaster, and an Eagle Scout.

I am the Captain of the Boys Varsity Tennis Team also, and spent 4 years on the Varsity team. My main concern is my CFA scores, I need to work to get those higher.

Can I get in?

From Chicago, that might be a bit more competitive, but I think it really comes down to getting the nomination. While USNA is great, have you thought about the United States Merchant Marine Academy?

Have you contacted the tennis coach? Are you competitive enough for that? Your stats are good...I assume you are finished w/ your file? It's important that you are done early. If you passed the CFA, that's enough.

You are very competitive, and i bet you get a spot if otherwise qualified; however you need to get as high as you can in "class rank". That is what counts; not GPA. I would try to get another point or two on your ACT. Math and English are the two sections which count by far the most. Make sure they are both at least 31. Also, how are you on the CFA? You look good, but keep working.

I am not competitive enough to play on the Tennis team, I am working towards passing the CFA now. I need to work on my pull ups and push ups, otherwise I pass with flying colors
