I am currently a HS Senior, applying for USMA, USNA, and USAFA. Though, USAFA is my number 1. I have already submitted my USAFA application on Nov 4th.

I am a Filipino female, GPA unweighted 3.77, 4.3 weighted out of 4.5 , SAT-1190 (still planning on taking it one last time in Dec) ACT-24 Currently in AP Calc BC (calc 2), AP Comp Sci, and basically all the other AP classes available at my school. I was finished my 4 yrs of foreign language my Junior Year.

I am involved in CAP, been in for a year, but advanced each time, currently a C/SMSgt received distinction from my squadron, and honor cadet of school at NCOS.

Been involved in ASB for the past four years, established the First ever Robotics club at my HS my Sophomore year (still running strong), intern for my congressman’s campaign, a part of the black belt club at my Taekwondo School, secretary of national honors society + a member for 3 years, in French honors society and math honors society, in Link crew.

CFA:
Shuttle Run: 10 sec
Sit ups: 82
Push ups: 42
Pull ups: 1
Basketball throw: 42
Mile time: 8:10 :/

Submitted app for Both senators noms and Congressional nom. Already had interview for congressional nom.

I can’t tell you anything with certainty as I am just a candidate myself but here’s what I can tell you based on what I know.
GPA: Good
SAT/ACT: Not so hot (I relate)
Course Rigor: Good
Leadership/EC: Good
CFA: Bad. Some scores may leave you disqualified
Are you qualified with DODMERB?
Now all you can do is get a nom and see where it goes.

If you have a check mark by CFA, you should be good to go. And, a lot depends on how competitive you were against the others in your state.

Yes, there is a check mark next to my CFA. I finished my dodmerb as well, and am qualified.

You should be good with dodmerb and cfa since you have a checkmark, but the only thing that doesn't seem so nice is your sat. Hopefully, you improve on December, but with that being said, it is possible other stuff on your app outweigh your sat score.

Take Khan or Kaplan SAT course. It will raise it 200 if you work hard at it. (Assuming you haven’t already done the course).

Does Khan have a math-only study option? DD needs about 50 points.

My son went to a local university to take the Kaplan course. That one costs money - but it was well worth it. I can ask him how it was - but I assume you could attend classes based on subject.

Others know Khan - I assume you can work with just one subject there too.

My son focused on math only and used the practice exams from Khan. My part was I printed them out and helped him score the exams (again the Math exams only). He raised his math score 80 points from the May 4th exam to the Oct 5th exam.

I can assure you, he didn't do any work on SAT prep in June, July or August with work, Boy's State and 2 Summer Seminars. Realistically, He probably worked on SAT math 3-4 weeks before he took the exam in Oct and gained 80 points.

My point in this detail is that 50 points is very doable with a bit of focus (especially with a focus on one subject).

That isn’t true about being disqualified for her CFA and her CFA is not bad. We don’t know the minimums - just goals and maximum.

SAT is where you should focus if you can get one more in before the deadline. The average SAT score for the c/o 2023 was ~1370.

That being said it all depends on how competitive you are in your local district.

Yes! You can study math only with Khan.

Just a thought.... When one of my sons was trying to get an appt. to USAFA, he had a decent Reading/Language score on the SAT, but needed to improve his math score. His ALO told him to "Christmas tree" the Language part on his next SAT attempt and save all of his mental energy on the math portion. At that time, the essay was required and he literally drew a picture of fighter jets on the blank page. Needless to say, he got horrible scores that time on his Language and essay sections, but he got the math score that he needed! Since they super score, it was really a great suggestion from the ALO! He's now loving his career as an AF Pilot! (Captain)

Just received a call for my nomination....did not receive Air Force but I received USMMA... I don't know how I feel right now about this. The reason I did not receive it was bc of my SAT scores. I am retaking on Dec 7 still, I will probably apply for the VP nom, and still have not heard back from Senators. I am willing to accept that my chances on receiving the nomination is 0 to none, but I probably will need to revert to my game plan of doing ROTC... Any tips on relieving myself of this disappointment?

I recommend a visit to USMMA if possible. Most SA candidates know very little about the school. You might be pleasantly surprised at the opportunities.
I am really unsure. I want to major in either aerospace engineering or mechanical engineering, but USMMA does not offer either.

Check out the USMMA Curricula. I strongly suspect that it is heavy in the area of Mechanical Engineering.

Naval or Marine Engineering is more broad than just ME but, enough ME to keep you interested.

I’ve looked at the curricula at USMMA, I am still considering it but I am still unsure.

Also just was told that I may be too competitive for a prep school slot... did not know that existed. The only thing that hurts in my application is my SAT and ACT scores. That most likely will be my disqualification.
