What are the chances of getting an appointment this late in the game? On hold and still waiting. I would think that the chances are slim at this point.? Anyone else waiting and does anyone have insight on the latter part of offering appointments and how that works? Thanks!!!

My understanding is that USMMA wants a class size of 280 this year. As of last Friday, 4/21, only 140 had accepted their appointments. I'm sure many more will do so before 5/1, but not all. This means there likely will be more appointments offered. That said, don't bank on being one of those and put your deposit down on plan B. Good luck!

Thanks , that's good information. Do you know, do they issue rejection letters from the hold list if your at the bottom? In other words , do they hang onto everyone on the hold list until the whole class is filled? Or do they start letting people go at the bottom of the hold list when they see it's not possible?
Thank you:)

We are in the same boat (pun intended)! The waiting is agonizing but my DS seems to be handling it much better than us, his parents. He is a determined young man and remains positive. I believe once the May 1 deadline passes for acceptances, the remaining appointments will be offered to hopefuls in order of rank on the NWL. I don't believe there is any way to determine one's rank- and so, we wait and remain hopeful until INDOC. Good luck to you!

How many are on the list to start? Does anyone know that amount? The math from last years numbers does not add up

Hi, I'm a sponsored prep candidate and I can tell you that right now, those who haven't got their appointment at the prep school yet are mainly those who haven't met the contracted GPA. They are waiting until finals (around May 3rd ) to hear back from the academy whether they have meet the contract and will be appointed or fail to meet the contract and receive the letter of declination. I would assume that they should have notify the self-prep candidates by now if you're appointed or not.

I contacted the admissions earlier this month and they said those who haven't heard back should be hearing back NO LATER THAN THE BEGINNING OF MAY. Around this time last year, I have received my sponsored spot at a prep school from the USMMA. Hang on tight and don't give up yet until the fat lady say so.

Good luck!

Yes, it seems like next week will be last chance except for a flyer or two. My DS is enjoying his senior year. But it amazes me how much he and other kids are doing during their senior year! Good luck to them all!

Any advice I will be going to MMI in a month sponsored by the USMMA.

My DS was at MMI two years ago as a Sponsored SAP. Here's my advice...keep your nose clean (= don't do anything stupid...it's not worth it), keep your grades up (not just barely passing, but As & Bs), turn in your paperwork as soon as possible (MOC nomination, admissions application, etc, but MMI advisors and USMMA admissions will advise you...just don't put it off.) Good luck.
