Hello. I am new here, but I have been considering attending West Point for some time now as well as learning about the application and nomination process. I am worried about my chances of nomination. The representative for my congressional district only considers applications for nominations if the applicant is 17 years old or older. I am young for my grade and I will not be 17 in the application window from the end of my junior to the start of my senior year. I am jumping the gun a bit for advice, since that is still a year off, but at this rate I will be competing with my entire state for a nomination from the senators. Any advice is much appreciated- if you need more details I can provide them, like I said I am new here and I am generally unfamiliar with this community.

My son applied in the fall of his senior year and he was 17. He turned 18 2 weeks before induction.

Are you sure you are understanding it correctly?

Oh, I'm sorry. I read the top paragraph on the Rep's website assuming that applied to nomination applications, now I realize that paragraph was for applying to service academies in general. I should have read it more carefully. Is there any way to delete a thread?

Lesson learned. In a relatively innocent way. Pay attention to the details!! This process is chocked FULL of attention to details. Soooo many details! But that’s part of the process.

Another lesson: words matter. You can’t take them back. No you cannot delete a thread. Like you cannot take back your words. Not being harsh here AT ALL....this is a really good lesson. Early, and innocently. No damage done.

GOOD FOR YOU for looking and prepping early. Lots of info here, and on primary sites. Good luck!
