Chances of Receiving a Nomination

If I have a LOA, what are my chances I receive a nomination? I've heard it almost guarantees one, but I have also heard it makes limited difference.

None of us know because we do not know what Nom sources you have. If it's the MOCs, again we have no idea, because we don't know your MOCs. Most candidates who receive an LOA get a Nom. I wouldn't say it's 100%, but it's pretty high.

Extremely good... if the committee knows about the LOA and you have a solid interview. And by solid, I mean you don't insult them or go in annebriated. I'm talking Congressman... Senatorial might be tougher due to millions of constituents (Wyoming, thousands).

Still, an LOA is a big foot in the door.

If the MOCs are well informed, they will know that if they give a nom to a candidate with a LOA (and all other conditions are met) then that candidate will get an appointment. MOCs like to have as many appointments from their slate as possible so why wouldn't they give a nom to a candidate with a LOA.

If your MOC is smart/experienced in nominating and wants to maximize the number of appointments from their district, they will rank order any LOAs much lower and use a principal nomination on a candidate that wouldn't otherwise get picked up on a national list. That allows the LOA, a district principal, and any other candidate that meets national standards, plus prep and civil prep candidates to all come out of one district.

At this point, you have probably received your nomination. Congratulations!!! See you on R-Day :)
