Good evening!

The situation I'm in is that I have:
-fully completed my application
-received a nomination from a MOC
-NOT received a LOA
-did decent academically/on the CFA (slightly higher than the 2012 average)
-have been invited to stay at the academy for a weekend

However, I have received no confirmation of being accepted or denied. I know that the admissions don't officially close until sometime in April, but I'm curious if most candidates who did not receive LOA's have still not heard anything yet.

Also, is there any significance in being invited to stay for the weekend?

Your chances definitely are not slimming as time goes on. I am in the exact same spot as you, no LOA but 2 nominations, basically average everything else. Just found out I got triple Q'ed today.

My admissions officer just told me that most offers will go out this month and next month, but we might not hear til April 15th. So, as some say, it could be tomorrow, it could be after April 15th. But your chances are definitely not slimming, they are just straightening things out at the Academy and making sure they have the best guys/girls.

I know it's hard to be patient! I am in the same boat. Stay strong,

TJ

I'm in the same exact boat as you guys, 3'Qd, nom from moc, above average grades, leadership roles, sports, and extra curriculars. I went for a candidate visitor weekend, but still have heard nothing. There are tons of guys and girls just like us. I read a statistic, and they told us this at the CVW. last year out of 10,000 applicants 2200 were 3Q'd with a nom. 675 of those candidates did NOT receive an appointment. Keep updating your file with recent activities or any new awards. Good luck lets keep our fingers crossed!!

Good advice and the statistics are "spot on." Exactly right. I'd focus on the fact that about 70% of those triple Q'd with nominations were offered appointments.

I wouldn't worry yet. Most appointments will be going out in the next couple months, so you guys will probably be in that wave.

and yes, the CVW is a good sign. They only send invitations to those who they think are competitive. When are you going for that CVW? I'll be out there next weekend

I got an LOA back in December, and I still haven't heard anything from them -- I had to call Admissions and ask for info (I was DQ'd for color vision deficiency about a week later and had consequently been extremely worried since!). They told me I had gotten my waiver, which means I'm in, but still nothing in the mail yet.

I also know people also get these really late sometimes; I have a friend who is at USAFA now but his letter didn't come til mid-March -- and I think he had an LOA, too!

So don't worry, cross fingers! Good luck to everyone, hope to see you all on I-Day!!

Guys, you need to look up some of the LOA numbers, I think they only send out 150 to 200 of them and they end up offering about 1300 to 1400 appointments. So, the LOAs are rather few. Don't worry, most of the eventual appointees do not have LOAs.

It has been stressed by many ppl, admissions officers, BGO, current mids, that an LOA should not even be in your head. So few people get them that you should not hope for one, most ppl will not receive one!!!!! Lets just keep our fingers crossed and hope we get that big packet in the mail!!!
