change user name

Could I also get some help with this?

Unfortunately, our policy is that we no longer change user names upon user request.
See the policy here:

" - As indicated in our registration process, usernames will not be changed upon member request."

You can attempt to re-register and start over with a new user name and discontinue use of the old one.

Would it be possible for you guys to delete my account?

This is also from the rules:

- Service Academy Forums® does not entertain requests to delete user accounts. Once an account is created by a user, it will not be deleted.

@AROTC-dad Why? What is the reasoning behind this? I feel like this is rather unfair. I would also like to delete my account. Can you at least let me delete a post that I wish I regret posting? Please PM me and help me out with this.
The reason is we cannot keep up with the number of requests to do this sort of stuff.

@kinnem Then why cant you just make it an option for us to delete it ourselves/change our usernames ourselves like pretty much every other platform?

Because that's not an option with the underlying framework that is used.

@kinnem is it against the framework to make the delete post window longer than 60 minutes?

Not trying to be harsh here, but ‘ya gotta read the fine print! One of the most important things about adulting. It’s quite clear here when you create your account what’s what. No secret!

When you get into then”real world” you don’t get a “do-over”, which is essentially what you want here. Applying for these appointments and ROTC scholarships is one of the most DETAILED things I’ve seen. Makes sense that a forum dedicated to this military application process/life, created by, and full of military people, is a detail-oriented one.

Learning this lesson now, imo, is invaluable for your future adult self. The forum “bosses” aren’t here to clean up other people’s lack of attention to detail. Live and learn!
