Changes to Women's roles are coming...

Like Bruno should lock this up?

My DD shot the eyes out of every range and maneuver at TBS (thanks Dad). Women in close combat roles have been tried by several countries and summarily rejected as a dumb experiment by every one.

Folks...

As has been requested by the original poster...how about getting out of the debate of "right/wrong/??" and putting this back on track?

Or ?

I can't shut it down...but...

It's very sad that some of the same arguments against women were made against African Americans serving side-by-side with whites in the armed forces. All of the arguments in favor of segregation were eventually debunked.

100 years from now, historians writing the chapter on gender discrimination in the military will view this thread and say, "Man, those folks sure were ignorant back then."

You're assuming that there'll be people still around 100 years from now. The world ends this year! *hack sarcasm*

I will bite.

1. Not sure if this presumption is more insulting to male soldiers or female soldiers. Do you really believe than when a male soldier is killed/injured during the mission it is not compromised?

2. Men are not burdened by seeing their fellow male soldiers blown up? Again, insulting to male soldiers.

3. If "We" were so concerned about our female soldiers being raped then "We" would actually do something about the sexual abuse epidemic in our own military. Females in the Army are far more likely to be sexually assaulted by their own fellow soldiers than the enemy.

Perhaps you are not aware - women are and have been serving in combat. Shocker, I know. They are there to ADVANCE the mission and they are performing their duties honorably.
Time to make it official and give credit where credit is due.

you call it insulting, i call it human psychology. like it or not, humanity is not unisexual -- things are going to be a bit different the more you bring women onto the battlefield.

i still think that these are issues are significant and must be addressed appropriately....

Based on your previous comments on the downfall of society for the repeal of DADT and your narrow views on the roles of men and women and their abilities to be professional military members, forgive me if I find your exposé on "human psychology" narrow-minded, one-sided, and ill-informed.
