The only item not checked off on my application is the Medical Examination. However, I completed that a few months ago and was found to be disqualified by DODMERB for an ACL reconstruction less than 12 months ago. I emailed and called my admissions counselor but haven't heard anything back. My question is whether that box should be checked off by now because I completed the medical exam, or will it only be checked off if a waiver is pursued and granted by the Naval Academy?

after waiver is granted :) the 'medical' on the portal really means 'medical qualification', which requires a waiver. good luck!!

Yes, you need the waiver to be considered a qualified applicant. Once DoDMERB sends forward the DQ, it is on the USNA medical team (or each individual SA team if not the USNA) to review and provide the waiver dispensation. Each SA makes their own determination of viability, so if you were to get a waiver at one SA, it does not necessarily mean you would get one at another.
