I'm going to be entering my sophomore year at a top college preparatory school in my area. During my freshman year, I took a Chemistry Honors class that is usually taken by strong students in their junior year. However, I did not do so well. My final grade for the year was a C, and along with my C- in Geometry Honors brought my GPA to a 3.0 (I don't know if this was weighted or unweighted). Should I take Chemistry AP in my junior year to try to make up for my freshman year Chemistry Honors course and give me a stronger base in chemistry for admission to the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy?

You could but if I were you I would concentrate more on Physics and definitely on math. You will be taking Physics 1 and 2 at KP and you will be starting with Calc 1 and then Calc 2 your first year at KP. Keep working hard!!
