"Cherish the bond it represents. Wear it with pride. Never forget who we are and what it represents

I remember when wife and DD picked out the USNA ring and stone. Son picked out his own at Mass Maritime for USNR before graduation. SIL has a beautiful one from USNA. Brother in law has a great one from VMI and a Shako on the mantle. They all have the ring. God bless them all.

Awesome memories!

A Citadel ring is a little different - since 1940 the ring has been standardized with 14 symbols only the class numerals changing from year to year. In this way the Citadel ring represents The Citadel man as opposed to member of a given class.

They still wear it proud whatever the school.

still wear iyt ey hry

As they should - just an interesting tradition.

Also there is the 'Band of Gold' program where alumni will their rings back to the Association of Citadel Men gold from those rings is mixed with thing the new class rings

AF6872 is correct; USNA has the "band of gold" program and USMA does as well. I believe this tradition started at USMA. Truly, as AF stated, "they wear it proudly no matter what the school."
Interesting note and difference is The Citadel has 2 rings: a ring for cadets and a ring for non-cadets. Veterans, cadets, and non-cadets, hope they all wear it proudly!

Non Cadet ring causes much heart burn among real alumni - it's all but indistinguishable from the cadet ring from a distance. Seems to me all they need to do is replace the palm, year and seals in the top with a white or blue stone either alternating years or blue for under grad and white for graduate and problem would be solved ...

Or The Citadel woman

True enough - guilty of being old corps or is that corpse ...

Cadet alumni?

When people think of a Citadel Alumni they think of a person who went thought the cadet experience, preferably the full 4 year cadet experience

They are as much really alumni of the Citadel as you are. They graduated from the same school.

Calling one segment of the alumni, "real alumni" is just petty and typical of toxic alumni.
