Chicken Sandwich War of 2021

Popeye's is awesome, in size and in spice and in moistness, so I agree with its top spot.

The virtue of the McD's product was its long-time presence on the Dollar Menu. As they have recently pared that back and moved away from things that actually cost a dollar (wise move - they couldn't possibly be making much off those items) I have had less patience for it. I can't eat at Hardee's since I left my 20s. Even White Castle is easier on my gut.

Finally I *like* the sloppy goop. If I was interested in healthy foods I'd be at home eating kale with my wife. We do have a CSA sub and a garden, but some days a guy's just gotta hit the drive thru, and when I do I want the goop.
McDonald's has 2 different fried chicken patties.
McChicken
Crispy Chicken
McChickens are 2 for $2 in some areas.
Crispy Chicken is $5 +. The app usually has deals on it like BOGO or free fries with purchase.

I wish they would start offering the grilled chicken again around here. It was seasoned at the grill so it could be made without grill seasoning aka salt. Wendy's has one but it is already seasoned and high in sodium.

I am curious to see how long before they try to make DS a shift leader or assistant mgr or something. I really don’t want him working too many hours. He has too many other time commitments. The one thing I love is that he never has to work on Sundays. A nice break to worship or just catch up on school work or to do some PT.
They will do that to kids.I tried to make it clear to my ds that neither of his jobs cared about him or his future..show up on time and work, that is your only obligation. Eventually he learned but he had to see it first hand.
My big issue with fast food is the amount of drugs that many of the young managers bring and use at work. I dont know why it is tolerated especially with so many minors who work in the evenings and weekends. I wonder if Chick Fil A is different since the owners are more involved.

Sounds like my current job.

I think our Chick Fil A is squeeky clean. The owner is in fact involved. The managers are college kids. It seems like all the workers are several notches above the typical fast food workers. They are mostly high school kids. Anyway, DS knows to stay away from drugs. The NJROTC kids at his school also know they need to stay away from drugs. He is a leader at his unit. He wants to serve and I have drilled into him that he cannot even try drugs once or he can scratch military service off the list.

Here is another one..Farm fresh ( Elkridge, MD)
I do not know if this is a chain of stores, but we stopped at this place about 2am after our flight from Dfw on way to hotel. DS was hungry and this looked like a decent place from outside ( has a gas station as well). Their chicken sandwich was so ahead in the game even compared to cfa, mcds. They cooked everything right in front of you.

Coming back here again for their spicy wings..

DW’s family is of Slavic origins. On Christmas Eve, DMIL serves a traditional cold appetizer that includes poppyseeds. When DD was a plebe, she politely declined her share, which surprised DMIL. DD explained the risk of flunking a drug test, which appeased DMIL, but just a bit. Tradition is tradition, after all. 😕

From what I have read, poppy seeds can cause a positive urine drug test for up to a few days, maybe three days. So, unless you get a random drug test sprung on you, you will probably be o.k. to eat something like a poppy seed bagel because the trace opiates will be out of your body in a few days. The thing is, poppy seeds are not so delicious that one cannot live without them IMHO. So, I would say better to avoid them. Not worth any risk because there is so little “reward.”

I am going to go and get a chicken sandwich right now. If I can get them to put bacon on it, I will be pleased.

DS has been working at Chick-Fil-A since last July. As you probably know, Chick-Fil-A is closed on Sundays. DS has been asked to attend a meeting at the store this Sunday and was told they have some "good news" for him. He has been hoping to be promoted to manager. But he also applied for a scholarship through Chick-Fil-A. So fingers crossed.

They have meetings at stores on Sundays???????!!!!!!!! ;)

This is the first I have heard of it. We shall see. I haven’t even spoken to him about it yet. We’re like two ships passing in the night. We’re never home at the same time.

Good News at a Sunday meeting generally meant a bible lesson, at least back in the day. Hopefulyl they at least are bringing some Bojangles biscuits for it.

Oh. I get it. :)

I meant that calling your employees in to work on a Sunday to give them "good news" and turning it into a bible session seems pretty underhanded to me.

Well, DS went to the meeting and the franchise owner called-in and told DS that he has been awarded a Chick-fil-A scholarship! And, he will be getting the package in the mail in a couple of weeks.
We are still waiting to hear about NROTC-MO scholarship (which is a longshot), but at least DS’s employer has shown him some love. He is grateful. Also, DS expects that they will promote him to manager soon. But gotta high school first. Not sure how long he will be able to hold down that job once college starts.
