Hello all, I am a 4 yr. Army ROTC scholarship winner and am committed to attend Texas A&M as a member of the Corps of Cadets. In May, we will be listing our top 5 choices for company/rooming assignments. Can anyone offer insight into each of the different companies and what each is known for/puts more emphasis on? Thanks

I can tell you that D-2 is an all-male Army outfit, with majority Army contract (as opposed to being D&C only). FWIW, my advice is to focus on Army outfits and then decide if you want coed or single-sex. That will narrow your choices down. Then maybe see if you can find out how heavily weighted the resulting units are between contract and D&C.

I live in Texas and spent a night with the corps this past semester. I personally won't be attending A&M, but my older borther is a fish in D-2 company and I could not recommend it more. It is an all-male old army outfit, but I am sure it is an experience you won't be able to get anywhere else. The only other company I could recommend off my knowledge is L-1. It is another all-male outfit, but I know a dead zip that graduated in 2022 that commissioned Army and loved his experience in an all-male outfit and will swear it is the best route to take. Good luck on your choice. There are still a lot of other great outfits, but there is no comradeship you'll find like you will in an all-male outfit. I would also recommend joining Rudder's Rangers as that seems to be an important thing to be involved with whether you want to be a ranger or not. Good luck with your choice!

I do not know many details, but my brother is also a fish this year. He is in N-1 and absolutely loves it. His outfit is insanely close knit, and they have a lot of fun together outside of their normal corps activities. I know he would highly recommend it if you are looking to go Navy!

My son is in P-2 (Navy/Marine), so if you're looking outside of Army, it's a great outfit! P-2 is co-ed, but the vast majority are male cadets. Their all-male fish buddy class has 4 of 15 on contract and quite a few seeking contract. They were 2nd place overall in the corps competition, the Bloody Cross, this year. He's had a great experience so far and would be willing to answer any questions. Please PM me for his contact and I'd be happy to answer any parent questions. There are a ton of ways for parents to be involved!

There may still be some spots to take advantage of Spend the Night with the Corps. My son did one last year the very end of April. That definitely helped to solidify his decision.
