Well, personnaly I have friends who started one. And for the past 3 years we have been supporting it. This year we will gather again on the Saturday after Thanksgiving and will pack and send about 1000 care packages to our troops both in Iraq and Afghanistan.
It is a community effort that has grown trememdously since it was created 3 years ago.

This site allows you to read requests from deployed troops, and fill them. You can select Marines, Army, Navy, AF, and the unit's state is identified, in case you want to support people from your own area. This group does great work, and appreciates cash donations to keep the connection afloat.
