I'd tell them to go pound sand. You can wash gear in laundry washers, dish washers, car washes, etc. Hopefully there was a leader around to tell CIF to go play in the corner. Unless they see a statement of charges they aren't going to get charged, they just want to scare those who don't know any better. If they took his gear back and cleared the hand receipt, he's good.
 
Their SGT basically told CIF that and that is when CIF came back with "wash it by hand" and after that..."well I guess you can put it in the washer". And no statement of charges for the camelbacks, so we are good to go.
Since he was 1st Regiment, hopefully they paved the way for those that came after....
