CIET -Orders

My DS will be attending CIET 1st regiment. He has received his travel itinerary from the Army HRA at his school via email. Does he receive any other "official" orders before he leaves? Also, from reading posts from last year is it true that airline baggage charges are waived and if so how does that happen without orders. Thanks.
 
Last year when I went I never got any " official orders" just the packing list and travel stuff from HRA. The airline baggage was very straight forward; when I was checking in at the kiosk there was a button the said "military" I clicked that and it asked if I was traveling on orders, click yes, show the person at the desk your CAC, and boom good to go!
 
Last year they told my son that they were not issuing official orders, but he had the travel itinerary and his cac card. Same thing, no problems with the free baggage....maybe it helped having the big green army duffle too!
 
DS received airline information that included other travel info (per diem stuff) that I don't really fully understand. He also has official orders that include 6 copies of the same paper. Also, finally, he was able to locate a packing list. I'm a little worried about this list because he is supposed to have several velcro name badges (he has three) but he only has one US Army velcro name thingy. Should we go purchase more? Unsure what to do. His battalion packed a giant Army backpack full of stuff that I decided not to rummage through. I'll just trust that everything he needs is in there.
 
Last year DS did buy more Army patches and he needed another name tag. Not sure if they used them all, and my son is not here to ask. He did unpack and repack the duffle....he needed to wash out the canteens, and then double checked it all with the packing list.
The per diem stuff they get when they get back. It has something to do with travel, but I never did figure how they figured that out!
 
DS is going to CLC. He recently received an email with "Travel Orders" as the subject line and the header of the document says something like authorization for travel of DOD personnel.

But that is CLC, not CIET.

Like momof1 my DS is also attending the CIET 1st regiment that begins with check in Friday night. All he received was a travel itinerary from the Army HRA at his school via email and a packing list which was approved and signed off by him and his PMS at school. His HRA was under the impression he would receive a boarding pass via email from Cadet Command but as of this morning he has not. Any advice on how he should proceed in following up with Cadet Command at Fort Knox or his HRA?

Happy to hear some have the green duffel, are they contracted? DS is going soon but he has not received his travelling itinerary yet. Any idea how soon before the flight he is supposed to get this info, and who arranges the flight. And by reading the above posts I assume it is via email that one receives everything?

Email is how I received my DD1610 (These are traveling orders, yes?) The rest I all got prior to leaving my school for summer. I was told to contact the airline 3 days before my flight to be sure we're still good.
