I thought I could make a thread just like the ones for the Service Academies, in which people can post here if they were accepted, going, not going, etc, etc..

Also, I found some information that is freaking me out just a bit.... The Citadel published the date for Matriculation Class of 2026, as being August 13, 2022..

Congrats on your acceptance. You’ll notice the more matriculation info you get as you get closer you’ll start the “this is starting to get real” feelings. 👍

In all honesty, I wasn't too worried in the sense that I didn't even know when Matriculation Day was supposed to be yet, but I really decided to login to my Lessense Gateway, and that was the first thing to show up. It's just a bit overwhelming now, knowing what I have ahead of me.. I'm listening to everything possible to be prepared. Any possible tips? 297 DAYS

I'm confused. Are you doing SMP, enlisting, accepting an appointment to USNA if you receive one or going to the Citadel?

Seems like it changes every day or even by the hour for you!

My apologies.. I am not doing SMP anymore... My intention is to do the Dual Processing with USN, but I am still researching my options. Furthermore, even though it would be my dream to get an appointment to USNA, I just can accept that it won't happen as I am simply not competitive enough, however, I will still be completing my application.

I am most likely going to be accepting my Citadel offer within the next couple of weeks.

I still plan on also reapplying to USNA next year, assuming I can do good for one year at The Citadel....

I've applied and got accepted to The Citadel. My #1 is TAMU but it's nice to get a couple college acceptances under my belt. It also helps I'm in-state for El Cid. TAMU is again my top priority but I've heard great things about The Citadel. Gameday atmosphere vs VMI was amazing.

Oh lucky you for being in-state... I have to pay like 55k/yr, without scholarships :bounce1: 😂

Congrats on acceptance at The Citadel and good luck on your application to TAMU, both are great schools. Something for you to consider re TAMU vs Citadel…they are entirely different experiences. At TAMU you will be on a large university campus with tens of thousands of students vs 2,400 at The Citadel. Your four year experience will be very different. Make sure you are fully aware of the differences - eg do you function well in large classes with sometimes overwhelming choices of things to do - or in a smaller structured organization? If you are taking a STEM major, class size, access to professors, student support services, and opportunities for internships can be critical factors - ask a lot of questions about these aspects - never stop asking questions - this is a big step for you. Fortunately - if you have a merit scholarship (including ROTC) of at least $4K, I understand TAMU offers in-state tuition to out-of-state students. And as a SC resident, the lottery scholarships are very helpful - from $5,500 to $10K per year depending on your credentials and major. Best of luck.

Thanks for the advice. Realistically I want to attend a big state university. I applied to The Citadel after going to parents weekend this year cause it seemed pretty cool. Also wanted a couple in state college acceptances under my belt. Again, hopefully I get into TAMU, thats my priority, I'll worry about scholarships and student loans later. 1st objective, become an aggie.

Lol…if all you know about The Citadel is a football game, suggest you begin in-depth inquiry about the commitment you will need to make to be successful there. TAMU is the largest university in the US at 72,000, so if your priority is large university, it makes the list. But realistically, that should not be your priority - your academic major, access to professors, how you fit in (85% of TAMU students are from Texas), and your plan to pay for college need to be your priorities. I have spent over 25 years as a volunteer counseling students on college decisions - most will take 5-6 years to obtain a first degree, change majors at least once, and have no idea of the full cost, and end up with large loans To pay off. Good luck

Holy... I didn't realize TAMU is that big.

Got my early acceptance to Citadel Class of 2026. I am also applying to USNA and apparently attended the October 9 CVW along with you. Did you apply NROTC for Citadel or the Scholars Program? Either way less than a year till Matriculation Day.

Ah, I did do NROTC for The Citadel. I also learned that Financial Aid: Scholarships, etc will start going out on November 15, therefore then you can view it in the portal.

How do you apply for the Scholars Program? We have 296 days lol...

Ok, I see where you are coming from. Let me word if a bit differently. I've done a whole lot of research into TAMU. I want to double major in Com Sci and International Studies(politics and diplomacy track). They have a great undergrad program for both majors and The Bush School of Government and Public Service is a great masters program for international affairs. I've gone to a small private school my whole life(they're 50 kids in my graduating class this year) and that's great for some people but I see more advantages in a big school(more professors, resources, etc.) I'm pretty sure I would fit in good at TAMU based off my personality(not going more into detail). What I meant by student loans/scholarships are not priorities, I guess I meant to say that I have multiple plans to pay for schooling already, so right now, I just want to get into TAMU. Also with The Citadel, I know a lot about the school from multiple perspectives(admissions, cadets, etc.). I've grown up around it my whole life. I only decided to apply to The Citadel after that football game because originally, I resented the idea of going to school 30 mins from where I live but when I went down to the campus again and saw the game, I decided to apply and that I should not judge the school because I live too close to it.

Thanks for the info again, I hope that clears some things up. I didn't mean for it to sound like I knew nothing about TAMU or El Cid haha.

Much better and presented very well. Appears you have done your homework. I served with several Aggies (many years ago!) and all were super individuals and good friends.

I just got accepted into the Citadel. Right now I think the only thing that might stop me from going is a lack of financial aid. I am from out of state, so I am really hoping to get an AROTC scholarship.
