Citadel Men's Soccer

What EEBTTF said - there was a soccer team in the old corps. Title IX says you need to have roughly the same number of female athletes as male. With the Citadel's relatively small population of females pretty much all females would need to be athletes to have kept soccer, wrestling and golf.

Even if they had there would be practice space issues. They already took Washington Light Infantry Field away from the cadets and gave it almost exclusively to the soccer team

AD will be glad to restart the Men’s Soccer team and name it for anyone endowing it - $2.2 million does it...act fast before inflation sets in... oh and will need a woman’s sport (besides the current women’s soccer team) for balance. For my money, I would rather endow the Club Hockey, Rugby (men’s& women’s teams), LaCross, and men’s and women's Judo teams - most are competitive with NCAA 2, teams. The Hockey travels internationally also - with the Navy D2 team members during Christmas break.

I would love to, just a little short this month due to all of the protein powder heading to Charleston. :)

Cadets first!

WE LOVE! CLUB SPORTS!

i just got the schedule from CWS and they’ll play Navy on August 18….thoughts?

The mens Golf Team was also disbanded at the same time as the Mens Soccer Team; it had more to do with economics as the athletic department was running a deficit of close to a million dollars and serious belt tightening had to be done, they were also forced to lay off a couple staff members. The AD got criticized as a penny pincher but he had no choice and did the right thing. We don't have some major womens sports like Field Hockey, Basketball and Softball because the revenue stream is not sufficient to support them.
