This is a question aimed specifically to those who have applied to the Academy: Does the Air Force Academy application mention the Civil Air Patrol anywhere? In other words, is there a place in the application which shows that you were a member of Civil Air Patrol? Please be specific.

Yes, I am a member of Civil Air Patrol.

Yes, as far as I recall, there is a part in the application specifically for CAP, and in fact, if I remember correctly, there's also information about flight hours etc.

Yes, it will be in the Candidate Activities Records form. It has its own section labeled "Civil Air Patrol Participation" and the flying hours thing is right above it!

Very cool! Apart from the flight hours, do you remember specifically what information it asked to provide?

Pretty much all they want to know is if you were involved and if so, did you get your mitchell or further milestones. There are specific boxes to check for those. You will put your leadership roles and other specifics in your resume.

Also there are check boxes for the major milestones. I was able to check mitchell and earhart. And no, wright brothers doesn't count. lol
Very cool. I'm up to my Earhart. Up to which achievement do they have the check boxes? I'm guessing that it would be the Spaatz award.

There are also check boxes for "member", "attended summer camp", and "officer". There's a place for you to type in your unit's name too!

After Spaatz, there's something for "Leadership Staff College or International Air Cadet Exchange" - Not really sure what that is..

^yup. I checked all of the boxes available except eaker and spaatz. But then on my resume I had to type stuff like cadet commander and special activities.

There isn't any NCSA called LSC. I assume they are referring to Cadet Officer School or possibly a wing leadership school similar to the Cadet Training Program in Texas Wing. International Air Cadet Exchange is an activity that sends CAP cadet ambassadors to other countries. I've been twice. Your CAP experience will definitely help you out if it's anything close to what I've done in the cadet program. In addition to your ability to list information in the supplemental information section, you will also be given the opportunity to share your experience during your ALO interview.
