Hello all,
I am a West Point applicant for the class of 2026 with 2 nominations. I was recently told by my Field Force Representative that even though I am fully qualified for the Academy, admissions had put me forward for civil prep consideration. He told me this meant that I would likely not receive an appointment this year. However, I haven't received an official correspondence from the Academy in my portal since my tour letter back in November. Although I am not dismissing the possibility of attending a prep school, I am still hoping for admission this year. Does anyone have any advice or in a similar situation? Thanks.

You have to remember how the process works. What your FFR is telling you is that you will not win one of the slates you are on and the Academy does not have a way to slot you in another way. The Field Force network does have some input for these Civil Prep spots. If you really want to go to West Point, this is a golden ticket. As long as you do your part next year at the Prep School, you will be offered a spot in the next year. Look at it as getting an extra year to grow and mature and you will be seen as a leader in the class when you get there in another year. 25% of each incoming class typically have some sort of post high school education.

I wonder how FFR knows that you are being routed to CP? Did FFR say they were sure about this?

A friend of the family went this route. Didn't get in but was offered a CP slot and chose New Mexico Military Academy over Marion Military. Did a year there went to WP the following year, graduated in 2020, and is currently a 2nd LT at Fort Bliss. I believe this slot is sponsored by the Association of Graduates and they pick up most if not all the tab. Keep in mind you have to do well at whatever civil prep school you go to.

The Field Force makes recommendations to admissions for certain candidates. it is usually done at the state or regional level.
